... and how did you get on.

I've just taken Mrs Smug to https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Touri...e_la_Mer_Fleury_Aude_Occitanie-Vacations.html to stop her going stir crazy.

It was a lovely sunny morning so I ditched the plans for mowing/strimming and gave us a day off.

We had a picnic on the beach and drove back by 'the scenic route' through Lagrasse which is a monastery town and quite beautiful. As we came into the top of the village there was a dozen police doing a 'stop' which is meant to catch anyone on non-essential travel or inadequate paperwork.

The policeman in the road held up his hand, for us to stop, and I grinned, waved back and did a right to avoid him. As I did him and his little gang jumped into their 4x4 and put the lights on. I put my foot down and flew out of town, hurtled onto a little known dirt track detour up to the hilltop satellite station and parked up ...

... we could see the whole of the town below us and watched what was happening. Eventually the 4x4 came back along the low road, with it's tail between it's legs, and set up the police stop where they'd been before. We stood there laughing, until we were sure it wasn't a decoy, then carried on through the hills.

We've just arrived back and Mrs Smug is still laughing, it's her first police chase so a novelty for her ...

... it's my 3rd and so far, Polis 0 - 3 Smug :emoticon-0140-rofl:

1992 coming back for the cup final from Germany(I was a squaddie at the time) my mate was driving and we got stopped doing 140 through Belgium. Had us out of the car at gun point as they thought we were drug smugglers, arse properly dropped out. Apparently they’d been chasing us in an unmarked car for 60 kilometres before they caught us up. I told my mate if he got knicked I’d be leaving him there, luckily once they realised we were squaddies they gave us a hefty on the spot fine and told us to **** off before they changed their mind.

I'm no lawyer, but I suspect not stopping when told to do so by Le Plod Francais would count as being at least "bending" them. Mind you, roadblocks for people getting a lockdown breather is way OTT so they can bugger right off anyway.

BTW, I bet the polis assume you're guilty whenever they see you, anarl <laugh>

I've been pulled over twice, first time copper started giving me a lecture about speeding, he wasn't happy at all when I told him I wasn't (I just hadn't slowed down for the roundabouts or corners I was going round). He was mightily pissed off and gave me a section 59 as he couldn't prove anything (pretty hard to prove something I wasn't doing).
Second one tried to get me to drive up a road again after he nearly caught me speeding (I was this time) but I refused, he didn't have his equipment turned on when he saw me go by so wanted me to go and do it again so he could record me this time <laugh>. He basically ranted at me for a few minutes about children possibly playing nearby, I wanted to ask if their really was kids nearby did he really wasn't to risk them getting injured by getting me to do it again but decided it was better to just let him get his rant off his chest which he did then drove off.

I'm baffled why you didn't do it the second time sticking to the speed limit, while grinning at him all the way up to and past him!

On one of mine they were all out looking for me and I ended up asking the landlord of the red lion at Boldon if I could park my car in the private/ owners car park overnight.
This was a long time ago. It cost me £20 fir a taxi home but was worth it !
