Square in the ****ing feels that one. One of the best days for me was taking my daughter to her first match.
I agree with your way of thinking mate. Anyone wanting a quick fix and an escalator to the top floor may be disappointed. We almost certainly will have to climb a few stairs and stop on the landing for a breather first. I do think that we will go up this season, or next season at the very latest, which for me is the important thing. We're building momentum at the right time, and the whole place looks like a happy camp right now. We clearly don't belong here, and I don't mean that in a deluded way. The size and ambition of this club is way too big for this League, and the sooner we are mixing it with the semi-big boys the better. One thing I am certain about - This clubs got a great past and an excellent future.
What age did you decide on? I really want to take my soon to be 5yo but I don't know if its too early.
Don’t worry by the time we get in she will be 16 probably won two European cups the premiership four times and be back in the third division by then
I went to my first game aged 5, with my Granda and my uncle (my dad was a boxer (won medals whilst in the army, so he was 'alright') and he wasn't interested in what he regarded as 'a puffs game') I remember virtually now't about the match, not even who we were playing, but I do remember that I was 5 That probably doesn't help, does it, Wardley
I hadn’t planned to take my daughter as young as 3, but we won a pair of tickets after doing a treasure hunt down Roker beach. So I passed my season ticket to her uncle and we went. We were sat close to the corner flag in the north west corner. We were playing Southampton. A minute into the game Southampton were attacking down their left against our right full back. This was right in front of us. She instinctively jumped out of her seat, pointed at the Southampton player and started chanting over and over “Not You, Not You”. Then we disposed the attacking player and she instantly cheered and shouted “Yes, come on Sunderland” I was awestruck. There had been no conversation about which team we were supporting and as far as I know she had not even watched us on the TV (by now her Mam and I no longer lived together). I looked at her full of pride and thought to myself “Wow, it must be genetic”
I took my son to Roker when he was three. Didn’t have to pay for him and he sat on my knee in the Clock Stand seats. We scored, he just about **** himself and started to cry ! Grandson is five in June. His dad is a Man Utd fan who goes to see them a few times each season. The grandson looks out for us and Man Utd so my daughter has said we have to get him to the SOL before his Dad gets him to OT. ( My daughter and his Da don’t get on).
When her Mam was pregnant with her, she declared after a few months that I had to start talking to the baby so the baby recognised my voice. So I put my mouth close to her belly button and said “hello baby it’s your dad” but apparently this was not good enough. She told me to talk about what I like, so I started talking about SAFC and matches we were winning, we were at the time. This continued for the rest of the pregnancy. Moving forward in time, we had a planned section, so I was able to book time off work and be there for the birth. Once she was out a nurse took her to a table in the corner with warm lamps over it and told me to come over to meet my daughter. Her eyes were closed and her hands and even feet were clenched and she was screaming in rage. I leaned in and said “there’s no need to cry, Sunderland are still winning all of their games” instantly she was quiet, relaxed, turned her head towards me, opened her eyes and just stared at me looking all content. I ended up crying tears of happiness instead
Haha. Aye its probably never too early. Just the fear that they odnt enjoy it and don't wanna go back!
This is exactly that....I think SD somehow thought he could hang around & although wont be making decisions still be a part of it.....KLD ended that in one brief interview & made it open he is aware they are absolute clowns....SD is going to look like a proper tool if he still wants to hang around. If he does...its the equivalent of being dumped by a lass, openly outed as being a tosser & crap in bed....then still wanting to knock about with her & her new bloke YOUR DONE STUART DONALD & IT WASNT EVEN THE ROTTEN UNGRATEFUL FANS WHO FINISHED IT
