We always seem to be behind the curve in transfers/loans. If Charlie hadn't had such an attachment to us I doubt he'd have been interested, that was our stroke of luck. We need to make sure we can provide him with a service, guile is in short supply both on the pitch and in MW's team set-up which is worrying...
Disagree Windes bigtime In a squad of I think 17 "adult" outfield players. (which is small!) We have had 5 longterm injuries. Amos, Carroll, Wallace (who cares), Kakay and George and an uninterested player (BOS). We were desperately trying to get in a reserve CB in the summer, a very unattractive proposition and we couldn't...no surprise there I have said before the squad was kept light for financial reasons, and it began to unravel directly the season started with a one of the first names on the sheet (Amos) getting injured. Carroll steps up brilliantly and then he goes too...our limited options in the full backs/wing backs also is hit badly. We are very lucky Barbet and Dickie and to a lesser extent Cameron have stayed out of major trouble (injury and cards) We were never going for promotion, Warbs was just told to get us through this season, with no danger and a bit more development. Lets hope he can do it.
I dont think a right sided wingback is needed so urgently because Kane is doing a job there. Saw it was him that set up Austin with 2 decent chances at least yesterday, and he's done ok for me as WB the last few games. Kakay can fill in there too, plus Albert I should think for as long as he lasts. Left WB is a bigger need I reckon if BOS is gone. Dont think Nico is good enough yet, hard to see Wallace getting fit enough, Albert in reserve again though I'd expect he'd do better right side.
You cannot say that, how very dare you. Todd Kane is our current whipping boy/scapegoat and I will not hear a positive word said about him.
He’s **** but it’s not his fault. Kakay should play if he’s fit though. Perhaps in the three instead of Cameron rather than in Todd’s position.
I don't I don't think he's very good by any means but he offers more than Niko on the other side. I'd rather a fullback who at least tries to get a cross in at ever opportunity rather than one that doesn't and when he does is equally as bad.
I doubt Warburton will want to change the back 3 unless he is forced to by injury, sickness or suspension until we are mathematically safe. Just 4 goals from 5 league games conceded now in the League since we went 3 at the back.
A draw, two wins and two losses from the back three revolution so far, 7 out of 15 points. Plus another loss in the cup. I suppose that is better than relegation form. Barely.
I still think the team desperately lacks pace particularly at the back. Bringing Kakay in loses a bit of height and Cameron’s fearless leadership but would allow the defence and whole team to play a bit higher and get closer to the strikers IMO.
I was talking about our defensive stats which have been improving over the last 5 League games, and also from the last 12/13 games compared to the first 12/13 games at the start of this season. They also compare favourably to recent full seasons defensive records. .I doubt any Manager would want to change a settled back 3 or 4 + the Keeper, who have such an improving defensive record, while in relegation danger unless he has to, or unless he suddenly gets the likes of Van Dijk to use.
The defence are playing high, very high according to Sinton and effectively playing the opposition runners offside. I expect Kakay will be used at RWB, or RB if he goes back to a 4, and when he has to change the back 3 it will be the Dutchman who will come in.
It is better than went before it, but we'll never be far away from the bottom 3 this season imo, especially now Warburton seems safe.
