I suspect we’ve offered 1+1 & he wants 2. It’s a tough £ world out there. So offer him 2 years with an option to extend to 3, based on fitness etc.

I’ve heard we’ve said £40m, which is high IMO. £30m is realistic for both.I’d guess Ings’ agent is saying £30m release clause and we’re saying £50m.
Everyone agree on £40m and be done with it.
This is a good post. It needs bookmarking because if we do give him a 3 year contract and his legs only last 2 years, we don't want the 'stealing a living' remarks as Shane gets on twitter. Loyalty works two ways and most were delighted when Shane got an extension that guaranteed him seeing his career out with us.Bertrand has been a great servant to the club. Even if he transitions to back up LB over the next few years he will still be valuable to us. Though obviously you don't want a back up LB to be one of your highest earners. How many more seasons does Bertrand have as our first choice LB? I think a 3 year deal seems reasonable. I'm sure Bertrand and the club will come to an agreement sooner or later.
£30m is way too low for a proven PL striker of Ings quality. Theres no way his value has only gone up £10m since he joined us. Strikers command big price tags, especially those proven in the PL. Ings is quality and we shouldn't sell ourselves short with him like we did with Mane. We took a risk signing Ings when we did and for the price we did, but it massivley paid off. I'm with Saints Alive, in an ideal world we should set it no lower than £50m. If its Champions League he wants, the Champions league clubs regularly pay £50m for players so I don't see it putting them off if they want him.
Beat me to it! They have a good understanding and enjoy working together. Hurry up Nathen c´mon. He tends to do a lot of that when Redmond’s on the pitch, so maybe Nathan’s recent absence has something to do that

Jouse Mourinho says Tottenham do not need a new striker despite reports linking the club with a move for Southampton's Danny Ings, saying he is happy with Carlos Vinicius and Son Heung-Min as his back up forwards.
“We are not a team that needs a third striker because our third striker is Sonny," he said.
"We have the best, we are happy with Carlos. Ings I refuse to say any words about him because he is a Southampton player."

Vardy is having a hernia op, so Leicester are rumoured to be in for Odsonne Eduard of Celtic. Doubt they'd be after Ings anyway, but that would put an end to any speculation linking them with him.
Worth a listen tomorrow.

Bertrand has also been studying the business side of football as he wants to move into the boardroom after his playing days. Maybe the club have a role of some sort for him here.
Spurs are after him then ...
