I highly doubt it would be Leicester. He just isn’t a signing that fits their model, they will go after someone much younger.

To me Everton makes the most sense, they have no problem throwing money around on older players so could definitely see them matching whatever we want. They are also in the frame for CL this year (not that I think they will get it) and with the investment their owners are clearly willing to make they should be challenging for the foreseeable

So Bertrand has less than 6 months on his deal, I would've thought we are confident on him signing otherwise we surely would've been trying to sell him?

Bertrand has been a great servant to the club. Even if he transitions to back up LB over the next few years he will still be valuable to us. Though obviously you don't want a back up LB to be one of your highest earners. How many more seasons does Bertrand have as our first choice LB? I think a 3 year deal seems reasonable. I'm sure Bertrand and the club will come to an agreement sooner or later.

I suspect we've offered 2 and he wants (understandably) 3 years.

You're probably right, Romeu was given a 2 year extension to his deal which was due to expire this summer as well. He is 2 years younger than Bertrand as well so can't imagine we'd be offering Bertrand anything longer than that

Maybe its down to the formation, but Bertrand rarely seems to make the kind of runs he used to, where he over or underlaps the opposing fullback, and whips in low crosses with pace to the six yard box, with their CB`s facing their own goal. Or has he lost a bit of pace ?

He tends to do a lot of that when Redmond’s on the pitch, so maybe Nathan’s recent absence has something to do that
