Potential signing? These FI guys seem to have been on the money recently

His versatility will appeal to Black Cats manager Lee Johnson, with Cochrane comfortable operating at left-back, centre-half and from the left-hand side of midfield.

The Brighton-born defender has made two senior appearances for his boyhood club and has featured for England at youth level, both for the Under-16s and the Under-20s.

Another defender really?

If its true then I trust the new guys to be buying the right players for the team for the long term future, rather than just players to fill short term gaps.

Could be that Johnson not too impressed with McFadzean and this lad shows up well "on the data" and is in the middle of a contract issue with Brighton, so represents good value.

We have been linked with a couple of left backs now and for this window.

I wonder if Hume has already indicated to the club that he won't be signing a new contract or whether there's something in him being more seriously injured than revealed as yet (based on his apparent Instagram post yesterday).

Alternatively Johnson may just realise that McFadzean is pretty poor and also Cochrane's versatility would be an asset. I hope it's this as I'd be sad to see Hume go.

The article says it’s a loan or a permanent which actually suggests that perhaps it may also be a short term thing and linked to Hume’s injury.

Hume out for another 6-8 weeks. Guess this is why the link to left backs.

Would much prefer we get somebody like this lad on a perm than a loan tho

Having a left hand side where the midfielder and left back can over lap and cover each other would be a good step forward.

I thought Hume had signed an extension. **** sake.

One of the few I’d keep, definitely overrated by many but same time definite potential to be very useful.
injured again hope we can sign more like luke Onien on the injury front with more flair and skill, not too much to ask we have done it before

I Didn’t think we’d be buying a player who is effectively a lower end PL second choice. There’s a premium even on that level that outstretches the budget of a league 1 club.

Hope it pays off for us if it comes off
