A "false 9" was something created for teams with the likes of Messi who didn't want to play a centre forward. But in fact a false 9 is just a no.10 or 'support striker', without a striker to support. So bearing in mind a no.10 is a support striker, what is a "false" one? One who doesn't actually support the striker so hangs around midfield? More importantly, there's then nobody between the midfield and the striker. I mean, this is the best there is to manage this club? This is what £3m buys you? This somehow 'makes sense' to Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley, Justin Barnes and Keith Bishop? All we have is a false manager.
