Sorry SWRanger...you cannot really mix and match the vaccine so you can't do that

Yes you could vaccinate a third time...but increasing cost and usage so not really on.

We have only a limited amount of Pfizer vaccine anyhow

I have a friend with long Covid who has described these symptoms...her hair falling out, the heart palpitations and really really extreme tiredness..

We have no real idea how long they will last and whether they will reoccur in the future.

We had no idea that as well as possibly being fatal in a significant proportion of those infected it is also a chronic disease with long lasting effects

This is getting out of hand.
    Potentially lethal?!!!!
There was a bloke on the radio this morning, sorry, can't remember his name or particular area of expertise, but he was a very qualified scientist and is one of those advising the government.
He took calls and de-bunked all these fears.
Having listened to him, I don't think it's a gamble at all.
Too much scare mongering going on both on here and on social media in general.

I am sorry I disagree with you Col.
As said earlier in a previous existence I raised antibodies in animals ( no not the same thing I fully admit)...but it always took two shots to get a good response.

My worry is that in older people, whose immune system is slowing down ( through natural aging) their response after one shot, will not be enough to hold of the virus.

Far better to give the Pfizer vaccine as stated by Pfizer ( who have categorically stated it should only be given 21-24 days after the first as that is all that has been tested) to the over 80s then at least they are fully covered.

The Oxford /AZ consortium is less rigid ..and then could be given to group 2-4 in the hierarchy with a little more confidence.
I believe this has been suggested to the government...

Fab news on the vaccine roll-out 2.4 M... that's 26.6 Wembley stadiums of people vaccinated protecting the old and front line workers. Well done and on target. <applause>

I bow to your knowledge as always Beth, but on balance I think the guy on the radio knew what he was talking about and he seemed positive that there was very little risk and nothing like the ones you describe.

Unfortunately, there are too many people believing all the scare stories right now imo.

If I've backed the wrong horse I'll be the first to admit it.

Some pretty horrendous figures on here, so many areas now over the 1,000 per 100k infection rate...

All bar 5 or 6 counties in ROI have 14 day incidence rates in excess of 1000 per 100k.... apparently we are the world's leaders in new infection since Christmas per head of capital.....not something to be proud of.....

I still think this whole thing is suspect. While the rest of the world is fighting covid China is having New Year parties and not letting WHO inspectors in.

Thanks Beth... I wasn’t really meaning mixing vaccines, more about if you had the Astra Zeneca vaccine 12 weeks apart and it wasn’t as effective, you could re-dose it with 21-24 days apart after.

This would be relatively cheap compared to a Pfizer double dose (£15 x 2) vs a triple dose of the AZ vaccine (£3 x 3). Not ideal, but cost effective and a better outcome across the nation in protection and reduction in spreading?

Just to inform you that the WHO team are due to arrive in Wuhan on Thursday (that information is available on sky news if you bothered to look instead of writing misinformation. This will be the third time the WHO have been to China since Covid began, they were previously here in February and July of last year.

The Spring Festival is in about one months time, and again to correct you, there will not be the usual level of parties this year as people have been asked not to travel in a bid to further contain any possible outbreaks. Happy to provide this information for you.

The other half is staying off work from the nursery today with some worrying symptoms.
Hopefully it's a bad cold as she's quite snotty, but we'll have to wait and see.
