Just a couple of thoughts -

If we had any money to spend, Michael Olise from Reading?

Also...and as I say, just a thought. What about a short term deal for Daniel Sturridge, who is on a free?

Sturridge is a talented player and a good bloke who has fallen into a weird footballing vortex at the worst possible time. He’s too expensive for lots of teams and has made enough money already that he doesn’t really need to work for less than his labour is worth (I agree with that stance). He also has a questionable fitness record which will put many mid-top half teams off. The third issue is that he plays a bit of an outmoded style as a number 9 who is quick off the line and a super finisher. Not alot of pressing or physical dominance from him. For us there’s no chance. He hasn’t played in six months so with the RH Time Tax we could expect to see him in the team somewhere around 2024.

So you’re saying he can make his debut with Salisu

Zinchenko would be a quality signing on loan with a option to buy.

I'd be very happy with that.

The only caveat I would add is that we only have one slot left available for a PL loan deal. So any rumours involving us and a PL loan deal I take with a huge pinch of salt - much bigger than usual - because of that fact. Only one person (at most) will be that lucky one.

Clearly going to be a quiet January, which is not a bad thing. It just means we got pretty much all we wanted/needed in the summer.

January is a time for clubs that are often desperate and facing the drop or have major injury troubles - at least this way we will be avoiding another Carrillo-esque mistake!
