The lad's got to make a decision soon, think he's hoping the problem will go away by ignoring it but he's got to step up and pin his colours to the mast.

Personally I think he should stick with Northern Ireland (as much as I'd love him in the Republic squad) since they are the ones who have helped develop him but ultimately the decision is his.

I don't agree with this kind of thing generally, manners cost nothing. But I thought Ferguson had said pubically that he was yet to make a decision about his future and didn't wish to be considered by either until he had? If so then Worthington should just have left him to his own devices until he made a decision.

Seems strange that he's not responding at all. At least the club sent all required documents to the NI set up but they can't force him to answer a phone.

I think he doesnt know what to do. ROI are the better side so perhaps he's holding out for them to pick him, and maybe he doesnt feel ready to make the decision now.

I think its a crazy ruling anyway, you're either Northern Irish or your not for me, until they become a united country. But I suppose that is pretty darn complicated too!

It is quite strange, leads to the age old problem though, Northern Ireland is his country of birth and can give him games now, but ROI are more likely to win things (still highly unlikely). Abeid is facing a similar situation with France-Algeria.

I think he should pick Northern Ireland, personally.

Well Trap has previously said he is keeping a close eye on him. Great prospect for the RoI if he decides to play for them, personally I wont be complaining :)

I do but like I say I'm old fashioned about most things. That's his country of birth so he should play for them. I don't mind if you move to a country at a young age and qualify for them, afterall the world is a lot smaller than it used to be and there can be any number of circumstances that leave you feeling more akin to your adopted country. I just can't see how they can choose between the two Irelands given they are seperate states. Politics getting involved in football I suppose. I assume all Fergusons family are northern irish of course?

With Catholic lads its not so much a case of who is better, its who would you rather play for...He'll have grown up wearing ROI shirts and supporting lads like Given!

Thing is, if a few more players picked NI over the Republic, the balance might shift. Northern Ireland are still pretty decent, better than Wales in my opinion and not too far behind Scotland. With a couple more talented youngsters siding with them they could have a realistic go at qualifying for a major tourney.

He's just a kid and doesn't know his own mind yet. Just leave him in peace until he's ready to commit.
