Proud to be English/British. Not really sure to be honest. The illegal Blair war certainly didnt make me proud. The corruption and lies we hear daily certainly dont. Then I see examples of kindness and selfishness like when people and companies rallied to feed hungry children during the school holidays.
Many of those who moan about corruption don't always recognise their own double standards
Over the summer I had some electrical work done by a local sparks. He was keen for me to make it a cash in hand job - and looked pretty disappointed when I insisted on a proper invoice with VAT (He was registered) and payment by bank transfer. He'd spent most of his break moaning about the state of the local roads but clearly couldn't see the irony
Edit - I'm not aiming this at Bob!
