    Came across this on wiki

    "After considering a takeover,[11] Ashley took a £9 million stake and signed a long-term deal with Umbro.[12]"

Does this mean that every Mackem that drags his knuckles to the nearest club/sports shop and purchases an Official S**derland replica shirt is actually giving money to the big cockney??

It doesn't matter where Ashley gets his money from, he does little to invest in the playing staff.

Apart from the sneery tone of this thread, you guys have had the piss ripped by Fat Fred and Little Douggie and then, when it looks like an uber-rich sugar daddy comes along, he turns out to be an even bigger twat than you had before, but STILL you buy the shirts, and eat the half-time pies, etc. etc. and you tell US we're giving money to the fat goon?

    Good grief...

I don't which is funnier. The notion of us making Fat Mike richer or me being mod material...

In all seriousness though 9mil wouldnt be much of a stake in Umbro would it? And Sunderland are just one of thousands of worldwide teams who wear Umbro so he would really get very little money from the mackems.
