I’m done, this is as bad as I can recall in many a year. I’m calling it early - Dean Holden out for me! He is way out of his depth.
As I said Saturday I can forgive my team anything if I believe that they are giving 100% and for the 2nd game running I haven’t seen that. We were beaten by another team who wanted it more, we we were weak all over the pitch, slow, predictable, clueless, barely put 2 passes together all night. 2 shots all game zero in the 2nd half says it all. Bentley 6 Not his fault our defence was so poor. Rowe 1 Shocking all game, constantly beaten, constantly caught in possession and his passing was awful. Kalas 4 Tried doesn’t look fit to me. Moore 2 A bag of nerves all game. Marriappa 1 Was poor, can’t see what he offers us. Hunt 1 See Rowe!!!! Nagy 2 Looks shagged out. Bakinson 1 Slow and predictable, 2 games now has looked out of his depth. Massengo 1 Not good enough or strong enough. Martin 2 Just got nothing from a piss weak and non creative midfield. Wells 1 Nothing to work with but poor in possession. Diedhiou was moronic tonight, both his yellow were not only deserved but showed a pathetic petulance. ODowda If I hear anymore BS about how good is I will crap myself, he is awful. Sorry Dean I know we have a lot of injuries but the last 2 performances were beyond shocking, the least to expect is a modicum of fight, forget about any other position in January, we need midfielders and midfielders who can create, because we ain’t got one, I have given all hope of seeing either Williams or Walsh and still believe that we are not being told the full truth about what has happened with them. I see a long hard winter ahead and hopefully somehow we will gain enough points to stay up, because that looks like the best we can hope for.
Time to get Eddie Howe the guy has lost it I should have stamped my feet harder says JL and not allowed DH to take the job.
Fortunately I wasn't able to watch the match but from what I have read from those who did we were our usual apathetic self again. There are some players that I question as to their ability and commitment and to be blunt I wan't to ask what the hell are they doing at Ashton Gate? The same old deficiencies season after season and yet we continue down the path to nowhere seemingly organized by people way out of their depth and that would certainly include Steve Lansdown and his merry men in the prawn cocktail suite. I certainly questioned the appointment of Lee Johnson and how on earth SL thought that Lee's deputy could even come close to fitting the bill to do the job that was supposedly set out by himself just becomes more incredible by the day. I have a sneaking suspicion that there were actually no other decent candidates to take over when DH got the job but I have an even stranger theory that our owner will never hire someone who will tell him the truth about the way he handles the club. Go out now and talk to Eddie Howe if you want a proven manager, but then again I think I know his answer. Successful owners hire successful managers - end of. P.S. to RR - you got to the point first and to me it would be the right call but we all know where SL will go next, if ever, and it isn't a name brand store.
that must have been torture had you paid a tenner???? I missed the first 15 mins or so and it was 2 shots + 1 on target ended 3 -1 With a shot after 90+ minutes...…….. 75 mins and no shot... WHAT IS THE ANSWER...… NO JERK REACTIONS …. DH needs to be given at least 35 games, and needs to be in top 8 no more than 6pts from top 6 Barnsley whom I mentioned early / pre season is now 2 pts behind us another ex city laying on the winner! Sunderland SHREWS both un defeated tonight! A double for Taylor … someone mentioned the "doing well" now players who have passed through the gate... could be 9th tomorrow and Cardiff breathing down our necks!
It needs changing now not at the seasons end.Bring EH in now not at the seasons end. I know he wanted 12 months out but he needs bringing in now.Cut DH contract now not at 12 months.
Desperate performance, way below standard, not good enough for this club, new signings are a must, MA needs to get the wallet open and help DH in the January transfer window, I wonder what's left in the pot, we've sold and used all of the family silver previously, we are in for a hard period.
I think a lot of others will feel just like you and I Wiz but I can't see Lansdown getting his head out of his arse any time soon. If you're prepared to sanction some 13 million or so on Diehou and Massengo then surely a few bob on a decent proven manager would be a bargain in comparison. Perhaps reality will finally land at Ashton Gate some time in the future but I don't think it's heading in our direction at this moment in time.
don't get to despondent Christmas is coming … although I already know it will be my worst and likely loneliest ever XYL has vetoed daughters for Christmas day .. because 3 of the 5 have had it and son in law work place gets 1 or 2 a week going positive. I have stuck by the rules, PRETTY RIGIDLY from 2 weeks before first lockdown, and to bend them now could end in disaster so will not be going to other family event next day … might splash out once more on a tenner viewing... so keep your pecker up and cross everything for Friday …. !
I agree + the signings of Rowe, Hunt, ODowda to me have shown a lack of ambition. The signings of Brunt and Marriappa haven't helped and god knows what the wages are + I also question the amount spent on Wells at his age.
That's interesting, as most of last season all I kept saying was that we needed a creative midfielder and someone that shows and gives leadership on the pitch...Obviously for some reason, the management and the likes of Mark Ashton don't see it.....
We have needed that type of player for 4 years, LJ never saw it and Holden is continuing in the same delusional vein. I just listened to the first part of Holden's post match interview, I had to give up because my phone was in danger of being thrown against the fireplace. Apparently we were better than Saturday and passed the ball well up (bullshit Dean) until the last 3rd of the pitch and then ran out of ideas (well spotted Dean), where have you been for the past 4 years Dean? have you only just realised this Dean? Some of LJ's post match interviews almost sent me over the edge, this one IMHO was an all time new low.
Wow, that didn't take long for the "Out" banners start to appear!! I can't see that happening this season unless we get sucked into a relegation battle.. I think the points has been a bit of a red herring to how we've playing IMO....LJ got annihilated for tinkering when things didn't go right.....I think Deano needs to change things up as we've been found out!!
He's a decent guy I am sure but please Dean don't try to bullshit us after tonight, Saturday and Birmingham, there were no positives from tonight 68% of possession and a total of 3 shots only 1 on target, against 32% 13 shots, 5 on target and 2 goals + a missed sitter, FFS we never even had 1 corner all game and we certainly didn't pass it any better than on Saturday. We were out muscled all over the pitch.
A couple of Holden's post match quotes. No disguising that was a disappointing night for you, what is your reaction? It was an improved display from Saturday, I thought we moved the ball really well up until that final third at times where we just weren’t able to have enough quality in the right moments to create enough chances. That has to be a joke? apart from the underlined sentence, Dean you have been here for 4 years nothing has changed in this department, but it seems to have passed you by. Gary Rowett said that Bristol City tend to struggle against physical teams, do you agree with that? I’m not really interested in what Gary Rowett said. Was that his question? Hit a nerve there Dean? But be honest Rowett is 100% correct, again Dean you have been here for 4 years and you haven't noticed this before?
70% possession, and again just 1 shot on target in a home game during the whole 90 minutes against a team that hadn't won in 10 or 11 games As under Johnson, our home form is already very questionable. 4 home defeats before Xmas isn't acceptable. The Manager, Head Coach or whatever he's called, needs to take a long hard look at what's fundamentally wrong at base level and the clowns in charge either need to make money available pronto, or make changes in the running of the team. Just as well we had a bright start to the season, otherwise we'd already be in a relegation scrap given recent results and performances.
There isn't a manager on this planet that will succeed with the current squad. Bentley, Kalas, Wells, Martin and Nagy are maybe the only players (I'm clutching at straws) at AG who are of Championship standard. Holden was handed a poisoned chalice. That's for sure but last nights performance was diabolical and Holden should be called out. Basically we have a worse squad than we did 4 years ago. Ashton, Junior, Lansdown - take a bow.
