It was said when Parky was sacked that the new manager recruitment would be left to Rodwell. Looks like they’ve done exactly that. I suppose that’s part of his remit.
If that’s the case could he been playing silly bollocks with poyet yesterday in the hope of getting cowley in

I think the Cowley's would be a good appointment. We need to remember where we are and that's a long way from the premiership at present. We need a get out of this league and then hope we establish ourselves in the championship. Cowley's, Cook etc would be the right appointments for this. And no more three central defenders.

Whoever comes in, there has to be a stock change in the way we play. Draws have crippled us since we dropped into this league, we have to be much more attacking and that has to be spelled out to the new manager.

Pretty embarased by some of these reactions frankly.

Concord Rangers - three promotions up to their highest ever position
Braintree (one season) - took to highest ever league position
Lincoln - 2 promotions in 3 years to their highest ever league position
Huddersfield - took the team bottom of the table with 1 point in 7 games to safety. If the season only took place whilst he was manager they'd have finished 9th.

Forget anything else - he has a record of achieving or even over-achieving.

Is he perfect? No.

But people are acting like he's the worst choice in the world. Grow up.
Who the **** are you to tell people to grow up, we all have our own opinions and you obviously have yours with what you have put up here but don’t try and bully others into believing what you’re preaching

Why is it a Rodwell appointment just because Rodwell wanted him? If Sartori wants him? And KLD wants him?

Is this the statement manager we all wanted? No. Does this mean the takeover is a sham and Donald is manouvering his puppets? No.

It's a good, solid, sound appointment for where we are and what we want to do. Not as exciting and I was all aboard the Gus Bus. But this is not a sign that we are doomed forever.

Its underwhelming but fair play for trying to big it up

Honestly some of the replies over the last hour have been ridiculous.

Bed wetting at it’s finest. No one knows if the Crowley’s will be better or worse but right now I think it’s the best we’ll get.
You took the words right out of my mouth mate. If any of the candidates took the time to read the last few pages of this thread, there's no way they would sign!

Regarding Cowley at Huddersfield - if the championship only ran for the period he was at the club they'd have finished 9th. Not bad for a team with 1 point from 7 games when he joined.

And then they sacked him and now they're bottom half again.

I'd say he's succeeded everywhere he's been, and if he's the guy then so be it. Wasn't my choice but he's by no means a "jobs for the boys" appointment.

He picked up 50 points in 39 games, so an average of 1.28 points a game. A full season would have given him 59 points, which would have been 13th. Best he's done in the league is 1.85 points a game, so even if he came in and matched that we'd get another 60 points which gives us 84 points, not enough for promotion. I'll back him if he gets it but he's going to have to perform better than he's ever done before to get us up.

I was actually thinking the same mate. Some of the nonsense I've seen on social media today from Sunderland fans is really backing up some of the comments we write off as ridiculous that Donald / Methven say about our fans on social media putting people off the club.

Now, I'm sure every club is like it. But the bed wetting as a whole because we didn't get our dream yesterday has been ridiculous. (I'm talking about twitter rather than here before anyone gets too upset)

Context important. Look at the teams he achieved those PPG with and in which leagues. Lincoln were punching way above their weight, he carried them to this division. Resources better at Sunderland, that’s a fact. He would get us promoted.
