Didn't see it but heard he was in hospital.
What happened?

Clash of heads with Louis. Jiminez was out cold and never moved. Louis played on bandaged up and bleeding, he was clearly concussed but still took a few free kicks which he ballooned all over the place. Arsenal took him off at half time, but he should have come off straight away.

Nasty................hope they are both ok

Clear and obvious is back in play.... <laugh>

Well it's Michael oliver, isn't it? He never ****s up, even though Traore was clearly trodden on. Beginning to really hate that overrated, over-hyped Emperor's New Clothes. Howard Webb with hair.

He’s conscious in hospital so good news that. Fingers crossed recovers all ok.

How David luiz was allowed to play on is incredible. Head injuries really need to be taken out of the clubs hands and be forced to sub. Make it a free sub if have to

But judged by a independent and impartial doctor; means clubs couldn't take advantage of the rule, nor would they have a choice about taking the player off.

Rugby has a simple system but they had to change the rules due to cheating scumbag new Zealand's going for head shots to get players removed.

It has settled down nicely now.

The fact is the ref for Brighton game gave a free to Brighton is a great position for a clash of heads. Crazy

And I saw that Atlanta lad stagger about then be let back on the pitch Wednesday. Ridiculous.

Luiz really attacked the ball with momentum whereas Jiminez attempting to head the ball away from a standing position. Nothing malicious in it but he basically got ploughed!
This may be controversial but I think that Luiz should have got at least a yellow card for that attempted header. I know it was an accident and these things happen. It is also clear that Luiz or another player in that situation does not intend to hurt an opponent but to reduce the risk of serious injury all players must have a duty of care to others. That is one cannot rush recklessly into a header or kick with a high risk of serious injury to a nearby opponent. That’s the reason why two footed lunges are outlawed. That phrase which used to be regurgitated by pundits (mostly ex players) “the GK should clear this cross taking out players if necessary “ is nonsense. You have to be in control of your actions at all times. And if they carry a high risk of serious injury to another player you shouldn’t do it.

The problem with this is that the ref can be conned with clash of heads just like any other coming together situation. It happened on Saturday, Welbeck pretending he clashed heads with Phillips when slo-mo showed no contact. Welbeck rolling round holding his head and Phillips wondering what's going on.

I'm not sure if you were suggesting a yellow for the 'perpetrator ' as Phillips was deemed to be in our game - they got a free kick - but it's just another situation open for abuse ie feigning injury to gain an unfair advantage.

Real head clashes/injuries need to be taken very seriously. To be completely safe, the ref should send any players to the sideline for a compulsory medical check and any like Luiz should be compulsory substitution.

That’s abject nonsense. They both went for a headed ball & both were merely following the flight of the ball and clashed, a complete accident, you can’t legislate for it, and fortunately incidents like this were serious injury occurs are very rare.
