We've played really well. Best that I have seen from us so far this season. We haven't been giving possession away and our passing has shown intent of getting forward and we have created quite a few chances. We are finding lots of space on the wings. Oztumer should have scored or at least hit the target but dragged it wide. Hanlan from about 3 yards out had a free header from a great whipped in cross from Nicholson but Hanlan looked scared to head it and missed it. We had a great penalty shout, admittedly, I have no idea why we were shouting for a pen, I guess a handball but all the players were shouting loud for it and chasing the ref. Nicholson a shot/cross along the ground which went through a group of players but somehow everyone missed it. Could have easily be 4 up now and we would have deserved it too. Walsall has had a few headers free headers which all went straight to Jaakkola. Jaakkola made a good save right before half time after our defence parted like the red sea. So we need to make sure we concentrate because Walsall are very capable of getting back in this. I am just glad we haven't decided to sit back.
Into the hat for the next round 2 - 1 win away from home isn't a bad result. FGR lost 6 2 to Lincoln welcome to the real world FGR
What a frustrating 2nd half. We did ok in the 2nd half without creating anything. But from the 60th minute, we then sat back really deep which allowed massive space between the midfield and Hanlan so everyone clearance, we had no one winning 2nd balls as no one was up high enough to win it so it was pressure pressure pressure on us for the last minutes. Oztumer looked good, he will only get better given a proper run. Upson impressed too. A few players has made it difficult for BG to leave out for the next game. I thought Liddle looked very poor when he came on. I hope its just a case of lack of minutes and will get better given time.
2-0 to Fleetwood already. Getting a bit fed up of this now. Garner has won less than 20% of his matches in charge in almost a year. We just don’t look like scoring.
We need somebody big and strong upfront to support Hanlan we also need to move the ball forward instead of sideways or backwards. surprised we are only 2 down some of the passes back to the keeper have been so short they have nearly lead to goals. the only good thing about it is I am watching on I Follow and not standing in that rain getting soaking wet watching one of the most dire performances from a Rovers team 70% passing accuracy I would have put it at about 30%
It’s unacceptable that the performance is so poor. We’ve spent a bit of money and Garner has the players he wants yet it looks like another relegation scrap.
4-1 loss to Fleetwood at home. What a shambles. I wonder what the excuse is this time? I’ve had enough, get rid of Garner and get Graham Alexander in before we drop into the 4th tier.
I thought kicking / throwing the ball away at free kicks was a bookable offence, they did this every freekick we had and the ref did nothing. the throw for the 3rd goal was taken from the wrong place and again he did nothing. I don't think we deserved to win but fair decisions by the ref might have made it a fairer game and why did he wait until extra time took their keeper for time wasting
Agreed, but that only papers over the cracks of another dire performance, lacking strategy or motivation. Four goals conceded at home to Fleetwood is extremely poor.
What a shame we sorted out the pitch at The Mem, in previous seasons, the ground would have become unplayable and the game would have been abandoned! Found myself wanting the weather to worsen as the game went on, just to put us out of our misery. At least the prediction table wont take CJS long to update this evening! - Can't think of any other positives to talk about!
No excitement even Joey Barton managed not to get sent off Sorry to see Ben Garner Sacked I hope the players take a good at themselves
EFL have said that league 1 and 2 clubs can name 7 subs with 5 being able to take active part. This takes effect from midday on Friday 20th November. Regulation 33.4 has been amended to permit
2-1 up against Chelsea U21s at half time - with Chelsea fielding £30m man Danny Drinkwater in their squad. Good solo effort from Hanlan and a smart finish from Nicholson from the Gas.
4-3 final score. Hare heads home late on to put the Gas through to the next round! Sounded like a right old ding-dong of a match.
Well that was a revelation! - I didn't think we had more than 2 goals in us. If we can somehow shore up our leaky defense that resembles a sieve most of the time, then we just might have the beginnings of a half decent side. I wonder if we would have progressed to the next stages of the competition a week ago when nobody really appeared to know what was expected of them. Still, fair play to them for scoring 4 goals, regardless of who we were playing.
