Wolf were supporting them. I was literally at the stage for that concert. Great band live. I think I saw AC/DC shortly afterwards there as well. FTATR(WSY) tour? Saw Maiden there around 1987. Think they were the last band I saw there.
Wolf, that was it.
I also went to the AC/DC one, and Maiden on their NOTB tour.
Did Rush play there in 82?

One of my favourite concerts is still Pat Benatar at the City Hall (only toured the UK once and Newcastle was one of three UK venues)

Last year saw Schenker on the Schenkerfest tour - he was back to his best. Saw UFO just before Paul Raymond died
MSG were the first rock/metal band I saw live at NCH on the MSG tour 1981. I’m not counting Lindisfarne who I saw the year before. As good as they are they could never be classified as rock or metal.

I would say I'm very ecleptic with my music but I cannot get away with rock/metal, each to they own and that but I know a lot of people love it so it must just be me that's odd.

Not at all. If we all liked the same music then it would make a handful of musicians fairly rich. I just happen to like rock and metal but I can listen to and appreciate all sorts of styles.
The thing that surprised me was listening to grime. I can’t say I’d rush out and buy it but there’s certainly a couple of tracks that I like. Classical music is another. I regularly have it playing in the background.

Grew up with The Quo, Uriah Heep, AC/DC, Golden Earring & The Sensational Alex Harvey Band in the 70s and am stlll very much a rocker.

Recently I’ve got right back into The Cult and have seen them twice in the last 3 years. They’re amazing Live - they get better with age.

All time favourite Band - Early Quo

Best Album Ever - Moontan by Golden Earring.

Best ever Rock Concert - Quo supported by Montrose in around 1974!! Montrose definitely the loudest band I’ve seen.

Current taste - The Cult, Elbow, Muse.

Gulity Pleasure - Kid Creole & The Coconuts

Quite excited as my daughters bought me a surprise gift - ticket to see Deep Purple next year

@Evil Jimmy Krankie - thoughts on Power Up?

Quite like the new Thunder track (even if it sounds like Whole Lotta Love)

Cheap Trick in April in Newcastle would be brilliant if allowed!!
Saw them last year - they lived up to their name and sadly not my expectation!! They were awful live mate. Nowhere near the band I remember from my younger days

Loudest band I’ve seen has to be Motörhead at the empire in the eighties, wasn’t many there but Christ my ears were literally throbbing afterwards.

Although a bit young at the time a cracking debut album

I saw Sammy Hagar and Bill Church at the City Hall. I was in the front row beside Bill Church's bass PA and it was loud

I saw them at the Arena and thought they were good - perhaps my rose tinted specs were on
Yeah I have to say a few said the same. I thought they were awful. Might be because, in my younger days, I was a bedroom singer and guitarist!! Probably hyper critical in my old age

Perhaps I was easily pleased then - being a Sunderland supporter doesn't take much:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm
