Quite excited as my daughters bought me a surprise gift - ticket to see Deep Purple next year

@Evil Jimmy Krankie - thoughts on Power Up?

Quite like the new Thunder track (even if it sounds like Whole Lotta Love)

Cheap Trick in April in Newcastle would be brilliant if allowed!!

I’ve only listened to it a handful of times but in my opinion it’s better than Black Ice and Rock or Bust. The best song for me is the opener Realize.
Like everyone else I’m not getting the opportunity to see live bands at the moment. Hopefully that’ll change next year.

Couple of early albums I bought which are still classics

Always liked UFO. Basic metal played well. I’d heard of Molly Hatchet but nothing by them. What songs would you recommend?

saw molly at reading, was not expecting much to be honest (billed as 'the new skynyrd' or something like that) but was quite surprised, found myself really enjoying the show...true 'southern boogie' type sound, think 'flirtin' was the first album i bought but probably eclipsed by self titled 'molly hatchet'...'gator country' seemed to be their anthem to some degree and probably sums them up in one tune.

Loved Scorpions. Blackout was a brilliant album.
It is, I seen them on that tour at nch, but can't remember who was on with them. I seen them in 1980 on the Animal Magnetism tour, with Blackfoot as support...they were excellent.
I loved the early 80's music wise. Loads of great bands played here....i seen Scorpions, AC/DC and Iron Maiden in the space of a month at the City Hall.
Now its all tribute bands, mainly bad ones....

They are a Southern Rock band - who probably would have been much bigger these days as they are loads at the moment

The first album or Flirtin with Disaster album (if you like Southern Rock) are good starters

Wolf were supporting them. I was literally at the stage for that concert. Great band live. I think I saw AC/DC shortly afterwards there as well. FTATR(WSY) tour? Saw Maiden there around 1987. Think they were the last band I saw there.

was just saying to a mate the other day how we were damn lucky to be born when we were, from the 60's into the 70's when you could walk away from one job on a friday and start a new one the following monday, through some crazy fashions and the best music any generation could ask for, at the local friday night disco i was 'dragged up' on split part 2, fireball, alright now etc alongside the glam rockers...seemed a natural progression for me to friday rock night at the mecca and monday nights at the green bank then onto crocadildos...then that bloody woman came along and destroyed it all in basically one fell swoop, country never been right since...at least some decent music lasted to keep us going.

Would loved to have seen them on that, love that album. Who was on guitar, was it Matthias or was M. Schenker filling in? I know Uli had left by then.

One of my favourite concerts is still Pat Benatar at the City Hall (only toured the UK once and Newcastle was one of three UK venues)

Last year saw Schenker on the Schenkerfest tour - he was back to his best. Saw UFO just before Paul Raymond died

Matthias - Michael had left then (I think if I recall although he did appear in some concerts at that time)

I missed the schenker gig, but got to the last UFO one, Last Oders. I actually thought on the night that Paul Raymond looked really well, but Phil didn't look too clever. Great show mind, and still sounded superb. Great setlist to boot.

I know Michael played a lot on the Lovedrive album, even though most of it was credited to Matthias.

I was worried about the UFO gig as Phil Mogg had been up and down but he nailed it

I think I might have been at the Scorpions gig in between Lovedrive/Animal Magnetism as well - Supported by the Tygers of Pan Tang if I recall
