I saw them on the Down to Earth tour. They were a bit disappointing but at least I saw Cozy Powell

    One of my pride possessions.
The plecs are some I have accumulated over the years from being at the front. Got a good mix of Lemmys and Phils.

I saw Cozy Powell when he was with Whitesnake. Saw Rainbow at Whitley Bay Ice Rink.

    Classic Whitesnake

Personal favourite is Rose Tattoo. So many great songs that i'm certain most of you have never heard of. Mix of hard rock and rock ballards.

Led Zep for me at the Mayfair, at their peak and fantastic, I was about five feet away from them, when set ended with Peter Grant on stage ecstatically hugging everybody it was unforgettable.

Generally speaking I only like music I can whistle so most rock is in and a lot of metal is out.

The proper heavy stuff like death/thrash metal sounds like white noise to me. Dunno if those are the right terms but you know the sort of thing I mean, no problem with the stuff you can sing along to even if it is more like shouting along.

I agree with you about death and thrash metal with all the guttural singing (shouting). It’s not pleasant to listen to. Yet Motörhead are considered to be the forerunner of thrash and they were an excellent band.
Shame the classic line up of Lenny, Eddie and Phil are no longer with us.

Motorhead also had a softer, more melodic side to them as well....i love this one.

When Neil Peart died earlier this year I first found out about it on the SMB of all places. I put in my little bit that even as a 54 year old man, Rush were really the only band that mattered to me. Still true now.

As I subside into my dotage I am probably not as keen on metal as I used to be.

Having said that a good friend who still keeps himself busy, is the offical/unofficial photographer of indie bands in London at some very odd venues.

We play the game of beat the long intro, rock bands such as Deep Purple and LZ etc feature heavily, perhaps the genre lends itself to long memorable intros.

Although the intro to Smoke on the Water, still a favourite of mine.

I remember seeing Whitesnake at City Hall around 82, and Coverdale "forgot" the words to a verse from "Here I Go Again", and held the mic out for the audience to sing along. I thought that was really good, until I was telling someone else who'd seen them at another gig, and found out he'd done exactly the same there. I remember being quite disappointed to find it was all a bit of an act.

I saw Cozy Powell with MSG do his massive drum solo to the dam busters tune. Excellent.

Like many here apparently, I've seen UFO, Scorpions, and MSG many many times in many different guises. There was a period where it was 50/50 whether you'd get drunk useless Schenker, or awesome Schenker, but it would be fairly entertaining either way.

I've also liked a fair few of the grunge, and alt-rock bands, particularly STP.
