B&M's and home bargains supply various articles of food, drink, medication etc, which are far cheaper than say Tesco's,Asda's and Morrison's etc. Some people rely on these type of shops to suit their financial needs???According to Look North, we are now top of the league. A disgusting thing too be associated with. Wake up people of Hull... !!!!... shut the ****ing lot the B&M's the Home Bargains.... etc etc.... ****ing essential my ****ing arse... theres only one essential thing, pressure off HRI and other hospitals and safety of others...Just what the **** are Hull City Council and ERYCC doing,...!!!!!!!??????
I imagine they're doing things that they have legal powers to do
They can't shut B&M for example unless they have evidence which ties it to a large number of cases, and even then its very difficult due to the legislation the Govt put in for them to do that has so many exemtions they couldn't because B&M sell food. So they'd have to use other powers
Only people who can realistically change things on shops is the Govt (either by decision or by changing the law to remove the exemptions)

I don't think it's those sort of items people are complaining about. It's just that you can go to Home Bargains, pick up a tin of beans, then buy a whole load of non-esential items, while shops that only sell these non-essentials aren't allowed to open.B&M's and home bargains supply various articles of food, drink, medication etc, which are far cheaper than say Tesco's,Asda's and Morrison's etc. Some people rely on these type of shops to suit their financial needs???
With all due respect, you can go through the same procedure in Tesco(tin of beans,non-essential items etc).I don't think it's those sort of items people are complaining about. Not up here. But if they are in England or Hull then my point isn't valid. You can't, Tesco have sectioned off their non-essential items and are just selling essential ones.

Quite funny really. One Tesco sectioned off the non essentials section with cases of Corona. Which went down well.

I've no idea how it is in store, or what are classed as essential, but I've just clicked things at random that I don't think are essential, and it seems you can order on line and click and collect.
You can order anything online from anyone, it's not really affected by the lockdown.

Thats fine OLM if regulars know where to find them. But being on line is pretty pointless if you're on page 4346 of Google... unless you want to pay for website promotion.Depends, all my customers are independent menswear shops and almost all of them are still trading online to some degree.
Obviously it's not practical for all shops to sell online, but after the last lock-down, even my most technophobic customers created some sort of online presence.

I'll bow to your knowledge... but how...|?If I opened a shop in Hull today, I could promote it online directly to 50,000 residents of Hull immediately, without spending a penny.
You don't have to be Amazon to get a message out online, particularly if you're targeting a specific location.
