The areas in Penns and Georgia still to be counted are those from the urban areas (Atlanta, Philly), which are almost all majorly Democratic. All of the states Trump is currently ahead in, bar Alaska, Biden's catching him up fast in due to the mail-in ballots. That doesn't mean he'll definitely overtake in those places, but the numbers as they are adding up seem to be swinging Biden's way.

North Carolina has not changed at all for about 15 hours - no idea what's happening there.

Alaska is almost pointless atm, it's a lock for the Reps regardless.

Arizona is weird because some places have called it, and some haven't. It's getting close there, but people seem to be sure Biden's won there, but it doesn't look clear cut right now.

I could still be seeing it wrong, but I just zoomed in on Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia, and the areas yet to declare still have a reasonable count for Trump in many areas, and assuming the percentage that have voted is accurate, it looks like a long shot to think Biden's going to pull back enough in those areas.

Edit. Just looked at Nevada, and area wise, it's Trump, but it's very different in the more populated Counties. It looks to me like the future lies in Reno and Las Vegas.

The maps are always dodgy because they don't really show representation. The areas were the Dems poll higher are mich more populous areas, which while on the map look similar, are much more densely populated.

As it stands, there are around 1 million votes still to be counted in Pennsylvania, and Trump is currently ahead by about 300k. The most populous areas, which make up the majority of that 1 million, are almost 80/90% Democratic.

Georgia is similar - Atlanta, a very dense part of Georgia which is also majority Dem, is yet to be fully counted. They have about 200k total yet to tally with Trump leading by about 60k.

It's all a bit close, simply put. The mail-in ballots really make the voting look weird as states can have random bursts of one particular candidate right at the end after they've not really done much up to that point.

Assuming the figures in the maps are accurate, it's crazy when you zoom in on the electoral map. Some areas are pretty much red, with one pocket in a corner blue, but that has more people, so the whole area goes to whoever wins that.

Republicans: We want law and order!

Also Republicans: We will break into that polling station and will force you to stop counting votes!

A bit like people saying they respect the will of the people and not doing so when the vote doesn't go the way they think it should have?

You can deduce the representation from the figures in each area by zooming in. It's what I did to work out what 100% of voters was, to see how many were potentially left.

I love how you can't stop talking about Brexit, despite being told several times to **** off with that on here by the mods...

You're weird.

I don't think it is that nip and tuck. Nor does Trump. Why the haste to the legal system if he was expecting to win?

Who knows what goes on or gets seen in the background? I was just playing with the numbers as they were presented, and curious about what I don't seem to be seeing.

I think people who can't accept that others think differently to them are weird are the weird ones. But there you go...When you grow up you might appreciate these things...

If tour look on twitter.... 12 hours ago Bernie Sanders has predicted everything that is happening, for the votes, to the meltdowns......

After 4 years of seeing comments on Trump and cartoons about him being posted expect any such things about Biden being deleted by Kim Jung Olm.

Left wing humourists allegedly punch upwards.

Look forward to Biden being the object of their corruscating wit.

Is Ben Elton still available?

Yes, it would help if the Guardian did an hour by hour breakdown of the allocation of the postal votes, or say historically how these voted have been cast in past elections.

I cannot remember the exact quote, it was early hours of the morning when the experts were discussing the possibility of a tie. And yes, the way the electoral college works, it could happen. Constitutionally, The House of Representatives choose the president. With each state having just the one vote.

The quote? Something like, for the leader of the democratic world, we do not have a very democratic electoral system.
