Yes, it would help if the Guardian did an hour by hour breakdown of the allocation of the postal votes, or say historically how these voted have been cast in past elections.

I cannot remember the exact quote, it was early hours of the morning when the experts were discussing the possibility of a tie. And yes, the way the electoral college works, it could happen. Constitutionally, The House of Representatives choose the president. With each state having just the one vote.

The quote? Something like, for the leader of the democratic world, we do not have a very democratic electoral system.

As I understand it, the electoral college are not forced to go with the vote, and can decide to choose another candidate if they wish. It's a bizarre arrangement, but I guess it's a consequence of the structure of their federal system.

The Guardian page, considering it claims to be updating every 15 seconds, isn't really changing that much...

They've still not changed Michigan and that happened nearly an hour ago now.

All requests to halt counting are from the Trump side apparently without offering any solid concrete evidence upon which this is predicated...that tells you which side is much more concerned about the projected final outcome.

Trump campaign are quite clearly getting desperate. There's no evidence of tampering and his rhetoric about mail in ballots set up this exact scenario.

It's backfired on him, because the Democrat voters knew he was full of **** and the Trump fans couldn't wait to give two fingers to the coronavirus and vote in person, sans mask. As a result, they pulled ahead as predicted, leaving the mail in ballots awaiting a result. Which of course Trump is now trying to stop, as per his original claim.

So now what's going to happen is the postal votes, which will/are heavily favour/favouring Biden, will get counted and he'll win. And Trump will claim foul play, because he's a whinging ****. And nobody will listen, because he's a whinging ****.

I do like the fact that in the end, Fox News and the right-wing seem to have abandoned Trump. It may have happened on his last proper day in power, but it still happened. Trump gave his moronic victory speech, and everyone from Fox to the Beeb to NBC was like "meh, that was stupid" and just went on. Nobody paid any attention to it. Right now, Trump is claiming he won all the currently contested states on twitter and is just spewing conspiracies out all over the place. Normally people would pay attention to this. Now? Nobody gives a ****. It's just "crazy Trump" being "crazy Trump". His besties Fox aren't taking him seriously, and once this is done the Republicans are primed to throw him under the bus.

He's so ****ed once January comes around, especially if Deutsche Bank catch up to him.

What makes it particularly farcical is that Trump voted by mail himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine he's probably looking forward to not being around him come January.

I'm looking forward to all the remarks about Biden and the cartoons. Oh, our impartial mod will delete them under the no politics rule, unlike the Trump ones.

I wonder what Pence really thinks of Trump?

Hey, where'd you get that President...the....toilet...store?

I don't know how many people watch Scrubs, but there's a doctor in it that's basically a trained chimp who follows what his boss says. That's pence.

He was very measured after Trump's statement of "victory" in the East Wing of the White House...some die hards claiming that Pence has made a major faux pas by not immediately giving 100% backing to the "victory". Probably had a reality check and avoided potential ridicule of himself.

I imagine he, like a lot of the Republican party, are already looking at ways to distance themselves from his administration as soon as they can.

I don't blame them either.
