Betting exchanges now have Biden winning.
The democrats put all their eggs in one basket (basket case?) with Hilary Clinton. Apparently groomed for the presidency since her college days, which seems a rather long project. It backfired on them spectacularly and left them scratting about for a suitable candidate.
But, maybe all is not lost. The swings on Smarkets throughout the night, and this morning, have been huge. At one point Biden was 3/1, around the same time the beeb were exploring the consequences of a 269/269 tie. Shortly after Trump declared all postal votes fraud, the postal votes started eating into his market lead. Funny that. And four hours later Biden is now 3/1 on.
From a purely selfish UK pov then I'd say trump winning would be better for us as a country moving forward. From a financial pov for stocks & shares etc at least in the short to medium term, a trump win would be best.
For stability and long term relationships both within the USA and world wide, would it be the best? I'm not convinced. But it's a lot like the last election here....the opposition is just that poor that you can't see them doing any better and possibly worse. The democrats will never have such an easy chance again and they chose a very poor candidate to run against trump. This should have been cut and dry for them but they messed up
