Is this a subliminal herd immunity piece? The sticking point, and it always has been, is the lack of a comprehensive comprehensive test and trace system plus maintaining isolation for the old gits from the young'uns whilst the virus tares through the liberated yoof and spreads beyond. Here’s an interesting view on lockdown which, IMO, has some merit, but still puts some people at risk.

This worth a read re debunking the "Great Barrington declaration" The declaration, which called for an immediate resumption of “life as normal” for everyone but the “vulnerable”, fuelled these notions by casting doubt on the utility of lockdown restrictions. “We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity”, it stated.
"shutting away the most vulnerable as life continues as normal is not only inhumane, but impossible: by this measure, the carers, household members and frequent close contacts of vulnerable people would also need to isolate. Moreover, young people with pre-existing conditions they don’t yet know about can be equally susceptible, and “long Covid”, with its debilitating host of symptoms, affects people of different ages."
