Is this a subliminal herd immunity piece? The sticking point, and it always has been, is the lack of a comprehensive comprehensive test and trace system plus maintaining isolation for the old gits from the young'uns whilst the virus tares through the liberated yoof and spreads beyond. This worth a read re debunking the "Great Barrington declaration" The declaration, which called for an immediate resumption of “life as normal” for everyone but the “vulnerable”, fuelled these notions by casting doubt on the utility of lockdown restrictions. “We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity”, it stated. "shutting away the most vulnerable as life continues as normal is not only inhumane, but impossible: by this measure, the carers, household members and frequent close contacts of vulnerable people would also need to isolate. Moreover, young people with pre-existing conditions they don’t yet know about can be equally susceptible, and “long Covid”, with its debilitating host of symptoms, affects people of different ages." https://www.theguardian.com/comment...rd-immunity-funding-bad-science-anti-lockdown
Think they might have gone bust as it goes. A pity for them, as off-licences and drug dealers are cleaning up this year.
It also revolves around a fantasy: that there's a means to isolate the vulnerable from the population through which the virus is raging. When asked, they pretty well just shrugged:
Oxford coronavirus vaccine works 'perfectly' and builds 'strong immunity to virus https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...fectly-safely-triggering-immune-response.html
Love how it went from "works perfectly" like it was the saviour of mankind to "lessen severity" in the space of a sentence . Bunch of ****ing blaggers!
England Vs Barbarians off, Chris Robshaw is among the players who have apologised. "**** it we got caught, sorry" Arrogant arseholes.
Robshaw, who is set to join San Diego Legion in the US, expressed his "deepest apologies" for "leaving the hotel post-training with some of my team-mates". "A huge effort went into conducting this match in a safe fashion and it was irresponsible of me to break the protocols which are put in place to protect players, staff and the public," he said. "I understand that my actions have ultimately contributed to the cancellation of Sunday's match and I am sincerely remorseful for my role in undoing all the amazing work that went into trying to make it happen. "I promise that I will learn from this mistake and ensure something like this never happens again."
If he did, he gets my grudging respect. Edit: if he did, he must have muttered it as an aside, after reading out the standard guff - sorry, sincere statement of regret.
Lessens severity is a good thing and is how some vaccines work. The shingles vaccine doesn’t prevent shingles but protects you against the worst effects. See no reason to insult people who are actually doing something about this dreadful disease.
SS misread the report anyway, it says that the vaccine does work perfectly quelling fears that it might only lessen severity.
Yeah, it does look bonkers. The idea is to prevent supermarkets being able to sell white goods, clothes etc, when independent traders can’t; that’s fair enough imo, but the sensible thing would have been to let all shops stay open so long as they observe strict Covid secure protocols.
