I don’t think revenues would take long to catch up with them tbh mate. The money will follow the brands, like it does in every commercial space. The broadcasters won’t hang around throwing £3bn at Burnley and Fulham if the top clubs decide to bounce. I agree it’s greed, I’m just thinking about what it would look like if it happened.
I’d call their bluff, crack on lads, there’s the door. They’d back peddle quicker than a Poole conveyancer
Sometimes I wished he'd never removed the wage cap, but I guess even he couldn't see what it would lead to.
Nah, Sky pay the money they do for the rights as it’s a fantastic league. Any attempt to skew it and make it less competitive wouldn’t go down well with them, as the product is devalued as a spectacle.
It was right at the time . A lot has changed in football, in business and in global affairs subsequently.
Seemed like a nice guy. Probably should have stepped aside from media stuff as he got older. Turned into a bit of a joke figure, which is a shame as it looks like he did a lot for the sport.
Tbf I don't really know that much about the guy, bit of character eccentric figure, Fulham I think he was. Meant good, but the future took advantage, but he would never have intended that, he had good intentions as a spokesperson for players.
Jimmy Hill always looked good in a blazer. Sort of a sporting Roger Moore really. Not as funny though.
Remember singing 'Jimmy..give us a wave' in the away end at Upton Park as he was climbing a **** off huge ladder to get into a makeshift TV studio. Turned and held on one handed, wearing his sheepskin and duly obliged. Good fella.
So it’s been turned down by the other PL clubs so where do Pool & United go from here. i personally would **** them off out of the PL and strip them both of all their PL/League titles
