For me this saga just confirms that Pool and United have no doubt bribed officials in the past.

Money is their power...this is the richest league in the world

makes sense to me

referee decisions clarify my theory

What do you think you’re left with if this happens out of interest?

The PL would be left in tatters, every big funder/broadcaster pulls the plug overnight, clubs left without money to cover overheads. Breaches of contract everywhere and a group of very wealthy owners, broadcasters and investors sitting there waiting to pick up the pieces.

It’s a hostile takeover.

A football competition that isn't driven by Pogba's latest Insta post. Not sure why you think I'd care about the money side.

Can you take VAR as well?

Because your club is propped by the commercial framework that the PL have agreed. It’s like your income all of a sudden gets slashed in half (or worse) and you’ve got no mechanism in place to cover overheads such as player wages.

I’m beginning to think it doesn’t matter what clubs want, they could be dragged there kicking and screaming... there’ll be no “Yeah Buhbye then” moments bro.

Unfortunately I think you're right and the threat might well be enough, especially as there's a lack of owners in the league who care about the fans or tradition.

Doesn't mean I won't enjoy the (very) remote possibility of it happening in the meantime though, as I genuinely think it'd be the best thing to happen to the game for years. You know what they say about ignorance being bliss.

I think either way, the PL is stale and rotten and needs something to shake it up and help the wider English game, obviously.

Would they not be breaking contracts if they quit? I take it the other 4 were annoyed because the 2 sleeveens let slip the plans early and we're keeping quiet.

Depends when it happens and what break clauses there are in any such contract should the PL and it’s broadcast partners fail to meet their contractual obligations.

Shouldn’t the question be, where the **** are they threatening to go?

As the suggestion I saw, was that it was Parry’s idea and he said they could join the EFL <laugh>

A completely hollow threat.

Yes but not by giving the "so called" big six the absolute power to decide which teams survive and which teams win everything
They are the root cause of why the Premier League are desperate to "freshen" things up

Good question, the much heralded euro super league is years off yet and 6 teams from England but will the rest of the European countries have 6 teams,I doubt it.

I think the PL inception proves that it can be done again, and the EFL could just be the vessel for carrying a new league.

I think from The Glazers point of view (from their slippery ****ing greedy view) they’ll think “We haven’t had a sugar daddy, we’re a (The) major pull for broadcast revenues, we have built a sound commercial model, but we end up splitting it with minnows who (like WBA, Norwich) just feast and **** off again”.

Typical Yank mindset like you say, just trying to think what their gripes are with current set up.

Euro super league is a non-starter imo, they won’t disconnect with their cash cow, which is the fans. The platform just doesn’t have the same appeal without the rivalries established over the last 100+ years.

I think it was nothing more than Parry dusting off the playbook he used nearly 30 years ago tbh.

Threaten to leave lads, that’ll work. Only it wouldn’t, as they’ve literally nowhere to go that’d replace the revenue level, no wonder Clarke stood up and left the room.

Both clubs Sherman’s merely want a much bigger slice of the cake to put cash on the bottom line and thus increase the value of their asset, that’s literally it.

There's an easy solution to all this, can't someone just knock SKY's ASTRA satellites out of orbit! Problem sorted.
