I had one boss who was a raging alcoholic ..every Friday I had to get him out of the pub at lunch time in Newcastle and drive him home to Hartlepool where his wife was waiting. The normality of this routine was unbelievable and quite sad. Nice guy when sober tho

Bessie Windsor is the only employer I’ve ever had. Not mad per se but her extended family are another story.

Last but one were mad. Got the sack for them being ****ers (first boot in 34 year working) and then re-offered my job the day before I was due to go. For ten grand less than previously, anarl. I would have lumped one of them, but I was laughing too hard...

I used to work in a care home and was planning on studying my NVQs and going to college to start nursing.

I put in holidays for 2 weeks in August 1998. They were signed off.

The manager then pulled me into the office and said "Need you to work on Saturday" I replied "I can;t sorry, I'm getting married"

He sacked me on the spot and said they don;t need "my type" working there!!

With hindsight, I wish I'd gone to work!! (First wedding)

It was similar for me although not sacked. Got posted to a new unit in the army. Right, they said, we’re going on exercise for two weeks. Half way through the exercise was my wedding day. The ASM couldn’t or wouldn’t figure out that for the wedding to go ahead I needed to be there. I could understand if I hadn’t told them, but I did, on the first day there. It was typical of that ASM. He allowed me to have the weekend off but that was the end of our working relationship. He went on to bigger and better things, I left the army two years later. I’d still wallop him now if I saw him. He was a complete prick. And I’m still married 27 years later.

I've heard a few similar stories from the lads I used to work with when I was doing demos for the Army IT kit!

My first marriage was destined to fail from minute 1 - She was banging my best man 3 months after we married (didn't find put until 4 years into the relationship) - that said I wasn't a good lad!! Second time around, as you've seen, I'm hanging on to this one!!
