No, it appears from the article we spoke with him. But we just haven’t got back to him or Exeter. Which sounds very much like Ehab in all honesty.
My reading on this is... we offered an amount, if it was so far away from their valuation why let us speak to him. Then a-n-other team come in for him, meet the supposed valuation Exeter want but after the lad speaks to them he says **** off, no way I’m going there. I think Exeter have tried to create a bidding war but it’s blown up in their faces. I have a feeling the lad wants to come to us. There is one other thing on the horizon and that is the lad is in his last year so if they **** about any longer he’ll go for free at the end of the season. A bird in the ****ing hand and all that Exeter... do the deal...
Shame good player and just look at that assist record. He’s the sort of player we should be signing if we really are following the Brentford model.
We’ve just beaten the mighty leeds, we don’t need him. My recruitment has been spot on, I’ll spend the money down the polo club Ehab
I wonder if there’s a line of thought that Coyle and Emmanuel could play both the right hand positions. One at RB and one on the right wing if Wilks moves to the number 9 position. The two RBs have definitely both done well and it’s tough making a case for one over the other.
It might be that Mayer has covered that, he looked pretty handy in his first game last night and there’s probably a feeling that Samuelsen is decent enough cover with Wilks available to play there as well, plus young Billy Chadwick. I’d love a proper number 9, somebody like Matty Fryatt in his City prime, but there’s no reason KLP couldn’t fill that role.
Grant said we're still after a winger. Although, whether we needed another left-footed one was always up for debate once Mayer signed. We've already got Wilks and Mayer, Scott is pretty comfortable on either too so happy playing from either side. Could do with someone to play on the left, ideally who's right footed. Don't get this fascination with playing KLP up top either, saw him a fair few times off the left for the u23s and I really wouldn't fancy playing him up top on his own in L1. The CBs will just bully him, and we do need someone to hold the ball up. Wilks did that excellently last night, albeit against young defenders (minus Douglas) I think everyone would love a proper number 9, but it ain't happening. There are so few options on the market even around the £1m mark. Tyler Walker was the obvious one but he went elsewhere, so makes sense to bring another winger in. Re Samuelson, he's surely done now. Chadwick was brought on ahead of him last night, he was abject against Leicester's U21s too and only marginally better against Sunderland in the LC. Bring another wide man in and he can be moved on.
Samuelsen was a cheap option, I don’t think he’s bad and he’s got potential (he’s been capped for Norway twice), but he needs somebody to grab him and give him a hard life lesson, he looks exactly like the type to have sat in the stiffs at West Ham and not had it tough. If he can go out on loan to a League 1 or 2 club, that would probably help him massively. There’s a player in there, it just needs beating out of him.
According to someone on Twitter we’re after Herbie Kane and Woodburn from Liverpool on permanent deals. We had an option on Kane if we had stayed up.
I am just trying to believe in Grant McCann again. If he brings in Kane and plays him ahead of Honeyman or Docherty I'm going backwards again.
I was thinking on the same lines of how you for them both in, both done well and moving Emmanuel forward might work although some players when moved further forward don't always have the same affect has they read the game better from the back. It must certainly be in his thoughts though and it might work.
Really? C'mon! We have two senior 8s at the club, yes Batty can play there, but he's more comfortable at 6. I rate C Jones very highly, but you're on drugs if you go through a 53 game season (?) without reinforcing. There's even an argument that you bring in 2 more midfielders. From last season, we've lost Leo, Irvine, Toral, Stewart and Kane and only brought in Richie and Greg so far. And Herbie would be a great signing, before his injury he was starting to look very good for us, he'd look immense in L1. Don't forget, he got 4 goals and 7 assists for Donny at this level.
Agree, he's got an abundance of talent, he's just so physically weak. He's over 6ft but just doesn't seem to have an ounce of strength and at this level, that makes things very difficult. I think back to when KLP made his debut in the FA Cup against Milwall and how tiny he was, compared to how much stronger he is now. I know everyone matures, but he's undoubtedly done a lot of work in the gym too. Why hasn't Samuelson done that? He's got the ability to be a championship player, maybe even higher, but he just seems happy to let his career get away from him without much of a fight. A loan probably is best, but he went to Peterborough years ago, so he really should be past this stage now. He's got another 2 years left on his deal with us though so something needs to happen sharpish. Doubt he'll make the squad this weekend, didn't come on yesterday either when he was the only forward on the bench (Mayer too)
