I definitely wouldn't sack him, he's been decent so far and really likeable.

But I just really hope he starts seeing what everyone else can see and playing square pegs in square holes again.

Lampard <laugh>

And yes, I think it is quite unfair to judge him on two games which are essentially pre season for most players. Especially as you say he's done a fair bit of good for us.

I do agree though that his squad selection was poor this time round and that tonight's experiment definitely didn't work. It's good he's trying things though I suppose and least he'll pick non big club players. Think we'll see a different side at the next break, hopefully Maddison is back in by then too as think he can make a difference.

Our problems run far deeper than who the manager and players are. Ain't one in the world who'd turn us into world beaters, cos well, we're not.

Do I need to look for my soap box to discuss development of our young players?

Ok I was a bit brutal on Southgate <laugh>.

Agree that he should get manage at the Euros.

Seems to be a manager with extreme positives and negatives though.

Pros

- First England manager since probably Venebles to create some kind of team mentality around England and the players actually seem to take international duty seriously, which I’m not sure has always been the case.

- Very focused on bringing youth into the main side and trying out players from outside the ‘Top 6’.

Cons

- Almost too loyal to some players and will overlook their form.

- Some nonsensical selections.

- Appears tactically horrendous.

I suppose the team building bit is majorly important when you manage a squad that meets for about 5 fortnights a year with an odd month every two years.

On reflection I feel like he treated the Nations League games as friendlies and just used them to freely experiment, but they can’t be treated that way because they have an impact on World Cup qualifying seedings and play offs (Sod getting a group with France and one qualifying slot).

They are friendlies really, just against teams at our current ranking level. I rarely even watch these games as they should be left to do what they want. Absolutely crazy how many fans have reacted.
