I find it very difficult to believe that any self suspecting person would adhere to this kind of contract .. McCann is a poor manager .. but would he put up with this thereby ruining any future reputation in the game ? I doubt it personally

If such an arrangement existed I'd doubt it would be contractual. More a case of 'Grant, how about playing so-and-so this week? Only a suggestion but don't forget who's making it...'

Possibly .. who knows .. me personally I find it hard to believe .. I do suspect the formation may be being pressed by Eknob but again .. only guesswork

The only element would have been henriksen
In the same way Eriksson wasn’t playing for spurs after refusing a contract
Clubs do it regularly with players who are been ****.
Terrys out of his depth as a manager
Ehabs out of his depth as a chairman.
leta hope ehab sees the light after five games. Anymore than that and we’re in trouble if we want to bounce back at the first attempt.
Henriksen didn’t refuse a contract. He was given a one year extension by the club without him even asking.

In the same way
Meaning the club wanted him gone after he wouldn’t sign again with us
Henriksen refused to sign for a club city wanted him to go to. As he wanted to be a free agent.
Erikson wanted a big money move so they phased him out.

****ing hell. So you think Ehab should get to choose who Henriksen’s next club should be? I can’t think of one player in the modern game who would put up with that. It’s not 1958 any more.

Where did I say that?
We know you love henriksen more than the club ok
Clubs often want to get a high earner moved on and a player digs his heels in, not just at our club, Cos when he’s a free agent he gets more.
mcann was pissed off as he couldn’t sign another player he wanted because henriksen refused to go. No wonder mcann was pissed off.

They didn't need to ask him! The same way he wouldn't have to ask the club if it was his choice contractually to extend or not.

Henrikson agreed to the terms when he singed it

He didn’t dig his heels in. The complete opposite, he was given a one year extension he didn’t ask for.

I know you like a pointless argument, but even for you this one is bonkers. Ehab thought he was the clever **** and ****ed up. Henriksen just did what any professional player would do, he didn’t take a move that didn’t work for him. For all you and I know, the other club (Bordeaux I think) offered him half wages compared to City. You think he should take that cos Ehab wants it and McCann lost his rag? That’s mental.

Yeah of course. But to claim he has done something wrong by not moving to a club that didn’t suit him, after he had a year extension handed to him on a plate, is lunacy. That’s what CR was claiming.

He was happy to go to Bordeaux, it was Ehab who rejected the £1.7m bid. The move Henriksen turned down was to Russia.

He didn’t ask for it but signed the contract years ago with it in it so he was signing it knowing it could be triggered.

I heard the interview. He sounded confident that his source is correct. Makes you wonder who told Simon Jordan!

Simon Jordan is well versed in libel action. He must know this to be fairly accurate otherwise he would not have made the statement.

Nah.
Libel action is around publication of material that defames and damages.
Even if it was to total tosh the Allams would struggle to sue just because it was false.
They would have to show it had an effect, one that caused them loss.

He hasn’t planned and consciously vetted what he said in advance. If you take the comment in context it’s clear it’s just an off the cuff sentence that contains all sorts of vague accusations.
“They pick the team” could refer to one incident, as much as meaning it was regular.

Typically, the press seize on it as the “one truth” and he gets misquoted as if he has proclaimed it as fact. If he was asked to elaborate and evidence what he said I suspect he’d just say he heard they have interfered.
I’m not surprised they have as we have had some proper poor stints where I would have stuck my neck in as an owner.

Your logic that he knows about libel ergo it’s true doesn’t follow.

The other thIng to notice is that if you were doing as badly as our current incumbent, you are going to sow some seeds with others that maybe it’s not all your fault...

In summary: it’s an off the cuff comment, mixed in with a few other things, not evidenced, and about as reliable as a comment you overhear in a pub (might be true, though!).
