Are we more attractive to investors now than when SD took over? When he took over, any buyer was purchasing a club who were massive favourites for promotion from league 1 and were debt free. (You say Donald did this when Short did and, had anyone else come in at that time, the chances are the same thing would've happened)

We had a great academy when he took over and he has almost single handedly removed this. It's a poor academy. Class 1 in name only. Great facilities (except for thre £20m lift of course!)

A great academy?

How many players have come out of that and succeeded in our first team in the last 10 years?

Any man and his dog could have removed high earners to lower costs.

Also, take the N’Dong thing, expensive court case and settlement to release him, he went to Ligue 1.

Could easily have said ‘£2million fee’ and would have been gone quicker with less costs.

Academy destroyed, needs started from scratch more or less.

He lowered costs, fair enough, his legacy is non existent.

He inherited a debt free club with assets, lowered costs, and will now sell a club with small debt and no assets.

Forgive me if I don’t hi 5 him on his way out.
You are right Nads, any good that Donald and Co. did initially, is far outweighed by the damage they have subsequently inflicted on the club.

The bit I don't understand is the Academy, it almost looks like he has committed a deliberate attempt of sabotage

Dancingstripes - a username made up of two commonly used words in the English language, namely Dancing and Stripes. The first letters of each words, D and S. Reverse those letters and you have S and D. The same initials as our present owner. Therefore my police powers of deduction have deduced that @Dancingstripes is in fact Stewart Donald. Boom! Have that ya ****a!!

catch some real criminals man

How about players now playing for other clubs that have come through our academy in the last 10 years? Jordan Pickford (Everton), Conor Hourihane (A.Villa), John Egan (Sheff. Utd.), Jack Colback (Newcastle), Josh Maja (Bordeaux), Bali Mumba (Norwich), George Honeyman(Hull), Alex Gorrin (Oxford), Mickael Mandron (Gillingham) All of these players are playing in the league we find ourselves in or higher. Indeed 3 are Premier league regulars and one a French 1st division player.

There has been a lot of dis respectable comments on the takeover thread regarding SD.

Before i get hounded as an SD lover or similar, I do want SD to move on, because he cant progress the club any further.

What he has done though is:

- Cleared the high earners and poison from the club.
- Currently has us debt free and investable.
- Got us to 2 wembley outings in 2 seasons.
- Replaced the seats in the stadium, returning it to its former glory.

- AND FINALLY, if we are to believe the rumors, he has got the biggest investors we have ever seen in our lifetime on the verge of buying the club.

When im reading comments like "I hope Donald has lost a lot of money" and other comments similar, it lacks class, which is something I thought we had as supporters.

We all want the best for SAFC, but lets not be like those lot up the road.

Hes came here, hes tried, hes done some good stuff but ultimately didn't quite succeed. But now looks to be leaving us in more capable hands.
Agree on certain points. In his own words he said he will be judged on who he hands the club over to. I will wait to see and judge him on that. His intentions were good. Now we will find out if he will **** us over for his own benifit or not

Nailed it. Saved me from writing it too!! Not that there’s much point! There’ll be an arguing post shortly pointing out flaws in your data!!

Sorry mate, my laughing emoji was meant to come before my sentence. It was tongue in cheek as I liked your SD shaming, which i assumed that investigation took priority over catching the real crooks of WA.
Ah, there you go. If I’m honest I can’t remember the last time I personally made an arrest. Probably about six months ago now!

You've missed Henderson.

But 4 premier league players in 12-13 years isn't great by anyone's standards.

That's a player every 3 years good enough to play at the top level.

Hardly what you would call a world class academy.

I don't know how much of the clubs money he has saved or spent.

Only a buyer could decide if he deserves a profit after doing DD.

So he may well have wasted millions yet could still walk away with a big profit ...

... it's not a very convincing argument tbh.

I, personally, believe he deserves some abuse.

We're on the verge of a new season and the supporters are being left totally in the dark.

It's about as convincing as your argument, because like me, you don't know the situation.

The only difference between us, is you believe he deserves abuse, despite not having a clue what he has and hasn't spent of the clubs money.

It's not a question of facts, figures and finance.

Neither he nor Methven have been respectful to the supporters imo and I always respond in kind.

How many have Man. Utd, Liverpool, Man.City et al or even Newcastle brought through in the same time frame. Enlighten me.

The academy was Premiership class at one time, and has been run down of late, by poor judgement. The team that ended our short stay in the Championship with a 3-0 home win over Wolves 6th May 2018 included Ethan Robson and J. Asoro and Luke Molyneux the three subs were Hume, Embleton and Mumba with a kid called Maja an unused substitute. George Honeyman and Lynden Gooch missed that game but those Sunderland academy players gave me hope for the future, sadly the present team do not inspire the same confidence.
