I'm fairly certain Eaves would have been 100% better then he showed lasts season if the system played to his strengths as opposed to isolating him. I just can't see McCann changing systems so he is going to be equally ineffective tbh. Magennis on the other hand is just gash.
Why eaves was made/told to make a run across the near post all season I will never know A big man should drop to the back post to be marked by their full back and power the header in as the wingers should be told if in doubt or struggling aim for the far post! It’s bog standard football 101 that move. yet eaves did or was told to do the exact opposite
Is Eaves that good? Couple of half-decent seasons at Gillingham, prior to that bugger all to speak of. Not saying Magennis is any better mind.
Phil Buckingham, in the HDM regards Docherty , says medical completed, fee and personal terms provisionally agreed expected to sign within the next 48 hours, now that word "provisionally" worries me given boy blunders last minute history of trying to interfere with the terms of a contract at the last minute.
I recall listening to Alan Shearer who used to work his bollox off up front all across the front of the pitch .. then Bobby Robson got hold of him and told him to work the middle third of the pitch thereby elevating his game to another level, and adding longevity to his club career due to the injuries he suffered, a good manager/ coach would pick up on these things .. not saying Eaves and McCann are on the same planet as those 2 but you get the idea. If you and I can see the same faults being made week in week out then why can't a so called professional manager
A good point well made. The same applies to our ‘defending’ The same mistakes week in week out. I dread to think how many we conceded from free headers particularly from corners. Yet the coaching staff seem totally incapable of doing anything about it. All too reminiscent of Marco Silva and his disastrous zonal marking.
This is what worries me when I listen to the bloke speak .. he claims they have learned from last season but in every game they never learned a fkn thing because it was the same mistakes being made .. the same tactical blunders .. the same shyte formation allowing us to be over run and out played.
Mmm, bit harsh with the 'half decent' - he had 2 very good seasons in a mid table team, didn't he? I just feel there's a good striker there given the right service and management. Afraid McCann took several other players backwards last season and I think he might have done the same to Eaves. Magennis on the other hand I don't think has ever been a prolific striker and we really really need somebody much better IMO.
He was never the same when he was taken out of goal. How bad must he have been in goal if they thought he was better outfield. It’s hard to imagine
Being a vegetarian, if I'm honest, sausage rolls are a continuing struggle for me! Well past the bacon sandwich stage - too obvious that it's still from a fellow animal. I guess I'll have to go with Greggs vegan, not least for them breaking the mold. Had an M&S version a couple of weeks ago; was quite ok. Anyway, hopefully one or two signings announced tomorrow
