It’s not though? Unlike many (most) other media outlets, it’s publicly owned, rather than being in the hands of the plutocrats you refer to.

if you’d said The Mail, The Sun, Facebook, and the majority of online news sites, you’d have been spot on. The BBC, while obviously vulnerable to bullying by whichever government is currently in power, is the nearest thing we have to a completely independent news outlet with no agenda of it’s own.

Give up the BBC, and you’re surrendering the entire playing field to Murdoch, Branson etc.

It most definitely is.

This isn’t the place to discuss this in any great depth, but I have a ton of examples where the mainstream media (of which the BBC forms an integral part) is clearly acting to spread propaganda rather than report news. The fact that proper journalists, such as John Pilger left the BBC (and all mainstream media), and that millions have stopped watching it, tells you everything you need to know about how lacking in depth of analysis and perspective the BBC has become over the last decade.

The propagandist nature of the mainstream media, especially the BBC, has been cruelly exposed in this current Covid 19 plandemic, such that only the truly blind and indoctrinated cannot see it.

I agree with HIAG here, at least on their reporting of the Corona virus.

Being told were all going to die on a daily basis by the BBC for the last three months, while tripping out whichever talking head fits with their daily agenda to back up their story, has been ridiculous.

I don't know why they've taken this approach, but they have.

Even as recently as Friday, Rita Chakribarty was telling us earnestly how there have been another 135 victims of corona virus in Melbourne.

Victims. These aren't deaths by the way, they are positive tests.

Ludicrous journalism.

I recommend to everyone that they read “Propaganda: The Formation of Men’s Attitudes,” by Jacques Ellul. This is a well respected perspective and study, first published in 1962, and looks at the meaning of propaganda in the modern technological age.

I guarantee that it will make you question everything that you think you know about propaganda, and the importance of mass media in its effective use.

The censoring of alternative points of view is absolutely an essential element in propaganda.

Also, I encourage you to read Plato, especially where he concerns himself with the nature of knowledge, truth and reality. Not surprisingly, much of what Plato has to say on those subjects has a lot to do with what Mr Ellul has to say about the nature and technicalities of propaganda.

I guarantee that if you read Ellul’s book, to which I refer in my previous comment, you will obtain some startling insights.

That book truly opened my eyes.

They've never been held accountable for that **** either, correct.

I accidentally cancelled my licence DD during the pandemic. I might consider paying again when they start putting decent programmes on again.
