Midfield was yet again out muscled in a men against boys fashion yet again, slow, predictable and non creative.

How ODowda gets picked at all is a mystery.
Paterson take away his goal and he was weak and wasteful.
Massengo was rightly taken off poor, poor poor in the first 45 minutes.
Eliasson his first touch was appalling and incredibly wasteful.
Smith was blowing out of his arse after 30 minutes.

We are 3-1 down going into the final 10 minutes (including time added on) and we are passing it around at the back like we are winning 3-1.

Yes Bentley was at fault for the first 2 goals but where were the midfield in the build up?. It could have been a lot worse but for a load of last ditch blocks from defenders.

He brings on Wells and puts him wide left and then brings on Afobe and puts him wide left.

I fully expect Johnson to do his usual of blaming the players, ignoring a crappy team selection and crappy game plan (if there was one).

Sam Gallagher a player we have apparently been interested in showed that he is everything Diedhiou is not and never will be.

Frankly I am not surprised at the result and even worse I don't really give a rat's backside about the remainder of this season which should have been closed down. This upcoming summer break scares me somewhat if Lee is to continues to splash the cash on players who rarely meet the requirement listed on the purchase order, and with several player's contracts up for renewal it makes me wonder what will appear for next season? I won't come out with what I want say so I will leave it all in the hands of the thread last line:

The shutting down possibility didn't sit well with real followers of the game I will agree. I was always thinking that all they have to do is play out the string, and to hell with promotion and/or relegation, because we weren't truly involved in either scenario. It's a perfect situation for management to say that this was not a true season to evaluate players or coaching staff and so the same will continue for next season - whether you like it or not. Easy way out for SL.

Todays performance highlights that we were never good enough to get into the playoffs, of the top twelve teams we are the only ones with a minus goal difference, to lightweight in midfield, not good enough in defence, and the goalkeeper needs changing well that's my opinion.

'Players need to think deeply' - Lee Johnson delivers verdict as Bristol City lose at Blackburn Rovers
"I do feel sorry for the people watching it because I know they’ve been waiting for a long time"

It's now six games without a win for Bristol City and five losses in the last eight, following a dispiriting defeat to Blackburn Rovers upon the Championship season resuming.

The Robins took the lead at Ewood Park through Jamie Paterson's header, but parity was restored just two minutes later when Corry Evans diverted into the net for the home side.

Tony Mowbray's side had a goal disallowed in the second half and Ben Brereton slipped over with an open goal in front of him, before centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo smashed into the corner although Daniel Bentley may have done better in saving the effort.

Adam Armstrong scored his second goal of the season against City to wrap things up when he curled in following a late Rovers counter-attack to wrap up the win.

"We came in at half-time 1-1 and had to make a couple of substitutions," said Johnson. "Han-Noah Massengo was very close to giving away one more foul and was on a yellow and also picked up a quad strain.

"So we made the changes put some others on and hoped that that would turn the tide a little bit."

City were well in the game in the first half and Johnson pointed out the strength of his bench as Benik Afobe, Kasey Palmer and Jay Dasilva emerged. However, it was the Lancashire side who were the strongest in the second period, and claimed the three points.

Rovers now move to within a point of Preston in seventh - the position City were occupying - with the Robins falling to ninth amid a cluster of clubs who have designs on the play-offs.

"There weren’t really any excuses today. It’s disappointing to see," Johnson added. "I do feel sorry for the people watching it because I know they’ve been waiting for a long time.

"And I think the players have got to really have a deep think, because we’re fantastic in training, we played really well against Southampton [in a friendly] last week, but we’ve got to go out on the pitch with that football arrogance to go and be the best player on the pitch on the day.

"Maybe barring Korey Smith, I didn’t see enough of that attitude."

Bristol City host Sheffield Wednesday next Sunday as the pressure to get a result grows, with places in the top six still up for grabs.

Funny thing is I was quite excited to see us back today after so long but a massive bump back to reality over how shocking we’ve been over the last few months truly awful.

I get Afobe and Wells didn’t start because of injuries but that starting 11 was bad, to have those two including Benkovic, Palmer and Da Silva on the bench and not starting was criminal.

Finally I do like Bentley, he’s a very good keeper but he’s making too many stupid mistakes and has done for months, LJ needs to put Maenpaa back in goal and give him a chance.

It's not only the losing it's the way we lost, the drab, gutless way we play, how we concede and the pathetic, awful, spineless interviews and excuses given after.

Did you watch yesterday, at least 2 of the goals were due to goalkeeping errors, regardless how good his distribution is, (that’s a debate for another day) , a goalkeeper needs to be good at shop stopping & dealing with crosses , oh and catching shots rather than palming them back out into dangerous areas.

He should have stopped the first one as well , I accept defenders left it as they didn’t want score an own goal , a major part of being a good goalkeeper is commanding the box , defenders become nervous, like with the first goal when the goalkeeper doesn’t do that , but regardless he still should have stopped it

In the cold light of day we looked under prepared - at the time it looked like lack of effort/urgency, but I think they were just knackered
