Midfield was yet again out muscled in a men against boys fashion yet again, slow, predictable and non creative.

How ODowda gets picked at all is a mystery.
Paterson take away his goal and he was weak and wasteful.
Massengo was rightly taken off poor, poor poor in the first 45 minutes.
Eliasson his first touch was appalling and incredibly wasteful.
Smith was blowing out of his arse after 30 minutes.

We are 3-1 down going into the final 10 minutes (including time added on) and we are passing it around at the back like we are winning 3-1.

Yes Bentley was at fault for the first 2 goals but where were the midfield in the build up?. It could have been a lot worse but for a load of last ditch blocks from defenders.

He brings on Wells and puts him wide left and then brings on Afobe and puts him wide left.

I fully expect Johnson to do his usual of blaming the players, ignoring a crappy team selection and crappy game plan (if there was one).

Sam Gallagher a player we have apparently been interested in showed that he is everything Diedhiou is not and never will be.

Shocking is an insult to shocking.

I was tempted to avoid the results for the rest of the season and stick my head in the sand just down the road but as always my curiosity took over. Frankly I am not surprised at the result and even worse I don't really give a rat's backside about the remainder of this season which should have been closed down. My first thought was about a strange line-up (nothing really unusual there) which included several players who really have never fitted the bill and should be moved along their way soon.

This upcoming summer break scares me somewhat if Lee is to continues to splash the cash on players who rarely meet the requirement listed on the purchase order, and with several player's contracts up for renewal it makes me wonder what will appear for next season? I won't come out with what I want say so I will leave it all in the hands of the thread last line:

(Our) shocking is an insult to shocking - that says it all, thanks Jiffie.:emoticon-0148-yes:

I don't agree with the shutting down quote but agree with everything else.

Johnson got it wrong big time today, I cannot wait to hear his latest bullshit post match verdict.

    Last 8 games record ~LWLLLDDL - Points gained 5- Points lost 19.

We have 8 games to go, based on todays performance we have no chance.

The shutting down possibility didn't sit well with real followers of the game I will agree. I was always thinking that all they have to do is play out the string, and to hell with promotion and/or relegation, because we weren't truly involved in either scenario. It's a perfect situation for management to say that this was not a true season to evaluate players or coaching staff and so the same will continue for next season - whether you like it or not. Easy way out for SL.

My god how predictable is his post match bullshit?

I did nothing wrong and the evergreen I have to select "players I can trust", my god he must have run out of those players ages ago.

Todays performance highlights that we were never good enough to get into the playoffs, of the top twelve teams we are the only ones with a minus goal difference, to lightweight in midfield, not good enough in defence, and the goalkeeper needs changing well that's my opinion.

'Players need to think deeply' - Lee Johnson delivers verdict as Bristol City lose at Blackburn Rovers

"I do feel sorry for the people watching it because I know they’ve been waiting for a long time"

It's now six games without a win for Bristol City and five losses in the last eight, following a dispiriting defeat to Blackburn Rovers upon the Championship season resuming.

The Robins took the lead at Ewood Park through Jamie Paterson's header, but parity was restored just two minutes later when Corry Evans diverted into the net for the home side.

Tony Mowbray's side had a goal disallowed in the second half and Ben Brereton slipped over with an open goal in front of him, before centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo smashed into the corner although Daniel Bentley may have done better in saving the effort.

Adam Armstrong scored his second goal of the season against City to wrap things up when he curled in following a late Rovers counter-attack to wrap up the win.

"We came in at half-time 1-1 and had to make a couple of substitutions," said Johnson. "Han-Noah Massengo was very close to giving away one more foul and was on a yellow and also picked up a quad strain.

"So we made the changes put some others on and hoped that that would turn the tide a little bit."

City were well in the game in the first half and Johnson pointed out the strength of his bench as Benik Afobe, Kasey Palmer and Jay Dasilva emerged. However, it was the Lancashire side who were the strongest in the second period, and claimed the three points.

Rovers now move to within a point of Preston in seventh - the position City were occupying - with the Robins falling to ninth amid a cluster of clubs who have designs on the play-offs.

"There weren’t really any excuses today. It’s disappointing to see," Johnson added. "I do feel sorry for the people watching it because I know they’ve been waiting for a long time.

"And I think the players have got to really have a deep think, because we’re fantastic in training, we played really well against Southampton [in a friendly] last week, but we’ve got to go out on the pitch with that football arrogance to go and be the best player on the pitch on the day.

"Maybe barring Korey Smith, I didn’t see enough of that attitude."

Bristol City host Sheffield Wednesday next Sunday as the pressure to get a result grows, with places in the top six still up for grabs.

He has taken the club as far as he can.
    Completely outplayed outmuscled.
Absolutely battered from start to finish.
Oh and he keeps playing his favourite players irrespective off form.
Lansdowns need to think hard about next year.
Playoffs I must off been mad thinking we would get in.
    No chance.

Funny thing is I was quite excited to see us back today after so long but a massive bump back to reality over how shocking we’ve been over the last few months truly awful.

I get Afobe and Wells didn’t start because of injuries but that starting 11 was bad, to have those two including Benkovic, Palmer and Da Silva on the bench and not starting was criminal.

Finally I do like Bentley, he’s a very good keeper but he’s making too many stupid mistakes and has done for months, LJ needs to put Maenpaa back in goal and give him a chance.

It's not only the losing it's the way we lost, the drab, gutless way we play, how we concede and the pathetic, awful, spineless interviews and excuses given after.

It's not good, we need strong leadership on and off the pitch.

I’m clutching at straws here, but at the start of the season we lost the opening game to Leeds, before going on a nice winning streak.
I hope we’ll do it again now.

    A Dicks.
    Hope you're keeping well.

Anyway, another small mercy, Luton got a late equaliser.

I don’t get what everyone sees in Bentley, he’s been making too many mistakes for too long . Maenpa should be given a run. As for the rest , Johnson out thought himself again . Why was desilva not in the starting line up, as for his first subs , I think Johnson has lost the plot . The time’s we do well is when he’s not able to chop and change , once we have a full squad our form dips .

Instead of telling the players they have to take a long hard look at themselves I’m afraid LJ has to , he’s the head coach for Christ sake. his post match interviews are as if he’s a fan that has no involvement with the preparation or build up to the games.

It would depend on what you want. Bentleys distribution is excellent, that is 60 - 75% of a Keepers game depending on team need. He uses multiple surfaces instep, laces, outside of foot, javelin throw (superb) but plays in team managed by a man who do not use widely his key skills. City have a footballing Keeper in team that doesn't look to keep possession as principle to build from. He would be a huge asset with footballing centre backs and full backs like Bryan but Mr Johnson doesn't build (?) towards teams that make the pitch big and play through thirds etc. If City wanted a keeper just to guard the sticks there are many better and as good ... Here is another player whose dna doesn't fit the identity the team doesn't have.

Did you watch yesterday, at least 2 of the goals were due to goalkeeping errors, regardless how good his distribution is, (that’s a debate for another day) , a goalkeeper needs to be good at shop stopping & dealing with crosses , oh and catching shots rather than palming them back out into dangerous areas.

I wouldn't put the first one down to a Keeping error, too deep, far too deep. One yes. Third payers backing off.

How about higher lines and more pressure on the ball? Mr Johnson has bought young players, legs (?), energy (?), his busy bees. What I saw was a team that is a mess of ideas in defence. What is the big plan? What are the teams guiding principles? It looked like screen and defend zones but they are far too deep.

In possession. Inefficient. Laboured. Sloppy. Its not long ball. Its not possession. Its messy and indistinguishable. What are the teams guiding principles? Big plan?

Post match. Players I can trust. You Mr Johnson have been buying players for years you cannot trust.

He should have stopped the first one as well , I accept defenders left it as they didn’t want score an own goal , a major part of being a good goalkeeper is commanding the box , defenders become nervous, like with the first goal when the goalkeeper doesn’t do that , but regardless he still should have stopped it

My biggest issue is playing 3 wingers from the start (with a left sided midfield player at full-back)

In the cold light of day we looked under prepared - at the time it looked like lack of effort/urgency, but I think they were just knackered

I thought Baker and Smith were the only 2 to come out of it with any credit
