Football players are choosing to bend a knee in support of the BLM campaign in particular as a show of solidarity with their black team mates. Surely this is not a bad thing

OK, lets get to the *nitty gritty.

No more of your sweeping generalisations, abstract concepts and grammatical vagaries.

    Straight questions and straight answers.

First, do you agree that the Colston statue should be taken down and why?

*nitty gritty is a slave trading term btw,

It's a very simple question and you obviously have an answer.

I don't remember everything everyone has ever said on here.

I don't need to 'keep up', it's not a lecture.

    Just say why, it's easy.

Yep Colston statue should have been taken down, how not bothered...perhaps it was more symbolic being hauled down by protesters

Well first off I hope your granddaughter is ok, that's the main thing. I have a ginger mate and I sometimes think people assume he's ok with the jokes about his appearance. I'm not one to ever do that to anyone, so I totally agree it's a problem. I would say that the impact it can have on her is huge ad it should be treated as such.

And why do you think it should've been pulled down, I'm genuinely interested and not arguing that it should've stayed.

Thanks, fortunately over time she is getting used to it, although she really shouldn’t have to. She doesn’t let it spoil her life!

Aye we need another thread for people who are desperate to play the race card.

Isn't this one of those 'ad hominem' attacks you were on about?

No one's forcing you to read the thread, or contribute, and the lad's entitled to post a thread.

If you don't like the thread post one of your own, it couldn't be any easier.

To be fair they've said Nazi salutes are now acceptable ...

... but no dib dib dobbing, or v-signs, as Baden Powell and Churchill are massive racists.

Thought exactly the same. Power means the upper hand in my book, not equality.

:D amazing mental gymnastics here. Seriously desperate stuff. You want me to explain what systemic rac... oh you already know. I forgot!

I'm serious. There is a lot of playing the race card in the threads that are around already and it's exactly what the people doing it accuse others of. This is the bit where you disingenuously pretend they don't think that by the way, just thought I'd tee you up.

The clenched fist doesn't mean what you think it means btw. It's a symbol of resistance to inequality.

I trust that you were all among the outraged when John Carlos and Tommy Smith did it at the Olympics too?
