That was a dark day for the US.

The irony of Trump's paranoia about the 'deep state' is that he's actually creating his own 'deep state' separate from the machinations of Govt.

Whenever somebody in his administration legitimately criticises him or publicly goes against what he's said (which govt officials often have to do when called to give facts) then Trump fires them on the premise that they are trying to undermine him. In their place he puts a sycophant loyal to his message which simply serves to isolate the President and his cronies further from the Federal agencies and wider workings of Govt and in the process, it amplifies Trump's paranoia even further.

If anybody is interested in this sort of stuff, there's a really good interview with well respected journalist David Rohde. It's about a 30 min listen or the transcript is there if you prefer to read. Very insightful stuff into the mindset and subsequent erratic behaviour of Trump.

John Bolton and Trump.

Something quite satisfying in watching two absolute thundercunts fall out of love and start parading each other's dirty deeds in public.

Bolton was one of the most right wing hawks in that administration. He seemed made in the mould for a Trump presidency. So to hear him coming out with all of this, which I suppose at the end of the day, are just simple facts about the calamitous presidency of Trump, is startling indeed.

Trump has predictably lashed out in his usual way on twitter.

He's dismissing his book and lies and fake stories, but the white house is still trying to stop its release <laugh>

I think he's forgot a minor detail called a licence. If he opened the local authorities could withdraw their individual licences I would have thought. The same power they used to shut other businesses down, that tried to get round the lockdown.

Yeah I thought that. Suspect this his just his way of trying to force their hand with a bit of hope that others will jump on board.

I do find it funny that he can claim it contains classified secrets whilst also claiming it's all utter bollox. <laugh>

Surprisingly he’s lying again, not least with the fact that Bolton resigned.
