You don't know me. It's impossible to be perfect in some cases (how on earth do you buy a fair-trade phone for example), but I'm fair when it comes to buying clothes, giving to charity, helping others - I even stopped eating animals a year or 2 ago to just try and be a better person. So, with the greatest respect, please don't accuse me of hypocrisy. I go further than most people do when it comes to trying to better ones self.
I'm not saying that I know you, I'm just pointing out that it's hypocrisy, if on the one hand there's an outcry of what was done many many years ago regarding the benefiting from slavery and people doing exactly the same thing today.

Had a look at Black lives matter UK site to see what it is they want and???

3. WHAT IS TO BE DONE?
(i) Rioting?
Understandable and socialists defend the right of people to fight back by any means necessary. Marin Luther King rightly described riots as “the voice of the unheard”.
But riots can’t solve the problem; at best they provide temporary liberation and exhilaration before the state regroups and usually takes revenge.

(ii) Reform?
We support the fight for reforms as they can and do make a difference to people’s lives but they are not enough and can be rolled back.
Consider the US itself where the CRM was a heroic struggle which led to civil rights and voting rights legislation. In its aftermath there was a great focus on electing BAME leaders; “getting “black faces in high places” The culmination of this was the election of Barack Obama in 2008.
What did Obama’s 8 years in office really achieve? In response to Floyd’s death, Obama has said that institutional racism should not be “normal” in 2020 and has called for Americans to “come together to heal the legacy of bigotry.”
Yet, BLM was established during Obama’s presidency precisely because he failed to deliver on the hopes invested in him.
The attached table showing killings year on year highlights this:

Police killings year on year. A quarter of those killed in 2019 were African-Americans. Black people make up 13% of the overall US population

(iii) Armed resistance?
Neither can we prioritise as an alternative fighting fire with fire in the way in which the Black Panthers tried, however courageously. Ultimately the state has access to more firepower. This was one of the main reasons why the Panthers were wiped out.

WHY WE NEED A REVOLUTION
Racism cannot simply be reformed away because its use as a means of divide and rule is an essential feature of capitalism.
BAME people are the victims of racism and suffer disproportionately but are not exclusively affected by police harassment oppression and exploitation.
Working class people from all backgrounds have a common interest in uniting to fight those that oppress and exploit us.
The current crisis has shown who the key workers really are. We can and must harness our collective power to overthrow this system and create a better world.
No idea where you got this from. The official Black Life’s Matter is an American website there is no UK page apart from a Facebook page.

Any chance of sending the link please?

“Left wing extremists” <laugh>.

Fair bloody play to them. No one was harmed, and it’s a name that symbolises the hardship BAME people have had to go through. Should never be celebrating him in the first place.

Just saw Red Robin sharing the video on Facebook too <laugh>. Needless to say I could guess his opinion on the matter.

It was this post that made me think that you supported 'direct action' Rob.
Apologies if I misinterpreted it. No offence was intended.

@Cliftonville then mentioned me making a comparison between slaves and the murder of Lee Rigby. I didn't make that comparison! Angelic did, I was simply replying to his point. @johngalleyfan2 then decided to insult me based on this, when it wasn't even me that brought it up!
I felt the poster was making a valid point about uneven responses.

There was no rioting when Lee Rigby was hacked to death by Islamic extremists wanting to overthrow Western Society. People did not go down on one knee for Lee Rigby.

George Floyd was horrifically murdered, but his past was chequered. He was a serial criminal and a very violent one. He is being held up as a hero, it is martyrdom.

That response is not equivalent to what occurred post Lee Rigby's death.

How do you guys equate the murder of one British soldier to the enslavement of millions of black people? You're showing the bias right there and you don't even realise you're doing it.

I answered your point here. I do not equate as one of the guys (?) the murder of Lee Rigby to the enslavement of millions of black people. It is illogical to do so.

I'll admit that was the most flimsy one. I did initially back the tearing down of the statue but retracted it afterwards :emoticon-0148-yes:. But even with that, I certainly wouldn't support any kind of mob rule in any way. But really appreciate the apology :emoticon-0167-beer: Happy to admit that was initially my stance so you weren't entirely wrong.

OK not everyone's cup of tea and if Wiz wants to delete it, then no problem....but if you have an hour spare, take a listen..
You must log in or register to see media

the posted is the American page, when you read it you can see the references to past USA EVENTS actually it reiterates what I said about OBAMA [ although until it was posted on here didn't know they had a site, indeed as you said the other day you can learn something everyday... I didn't know they had a site let alone established before the last couple of weeks?]

I don't really like the man, but it's worth a listen, I personally think his views in this is worth listening to......not pointing blame to the black people but by US democrats George Soros creating tension for political reasons..

That is not a safe site. When I opened it on IPad I get the warning “Not Secure” so I doubt its an official site.

Asking for donations in Bitcoin also should be an indicator.

So the Germans edition of Fawlty Towers is 'up for review'.
For me, one of the funniest lines ever :
The German resident said of his argument with Basil 'you started it' - Basil replied 'no we didn't YOU invaded Poland'.

Ridiculous, where will it stop, everyone has gone mad, we’ve been locked down too long & everybody has lost the plot.

Your post here is an answer to pictures of the vandalized Winston Churchill statue and black BLM ??? protestors with a sign saying **** Madeleine Mccann and another of somebody trying to burn a Union jack on war memorial

Ah yes, single out the minority. Another poster suckered in by the tabloids. But people will then praise the skinhead thugs “defending” war memorials in Plymouth.

And btw Churchill was a racist

you made that up didn't you???

I asked the above about these Skinhead thugs.

And your reply was

Just reading back through the past couple of pages having not replied for a while. Lots of good points, but there's too much to quote and I have to address a few things which I feel you guys have conjured up to some extent - or at least applied other opinions to mine.
3. @Red Alert then accused me of making up a story about people defending war memorials. Seeing as there was then a discussion about it being true, I'll accept an apology from you any time mate.

There are pictures on line. The people at Plymouths naval memorial were not skinheads which is why I asked you made that up didn’t you?? Maybe you were implying they te skinheads thugs were far right nazis but there are pictures on line and some of the lads were black and Asian looking. That would rule out the far right nazi sketch as well.
So what Skinhead thugs? Where did you get that from? The tabloids who have suckered people?? Where??

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath and calm down. We’ve been in lockdown for a long time and people have been stewing on their issues and allowed their anger to grow.
Venting anger at statues and attacking the establishment is a way of releasing tension. It’s in our blood - we like as scrap and the lockdown has confined us like caged animals. once it ends those people will go back to work and won’t have the time to gather in large crowds.

It was interesting. Black lives matter was formed in 2013 after the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer George Zimmerman who was white. This is the claim on their website.

George Zimmerman it appears was not white.

So I guess the Black and white Minstrel Show won't be showing re-runs? When you think back at how we laughed at things that made us laugh, and to hell with anyone else, we are part of the problem in that if we watched these shows then we must have condoned them. The world needs to change but I can't ever see the Excited States being willing to include the African Americans in anything and all the time the gun lobby is in place, and very active, the potential for severe repercussions just waits for the first shot to be fired. Mayhem may ensue!

You won't get that reported by the BBC....Easy to Google him, as evidence that in fact he wasn't white......The whole thing is bull.
