unfortunately, I am sorry to say, is the nature of the beast. On almost any topic his trait has always been the same... like a toy sailing boat on a pond... changes direction with the wind …… or plucks statements or facts from the air and tries to join them together, bit like doing a jig saw puzzle without taking into consideration of the picture you are trying to make …………….. [ most jigsaws can be completed by doing face down, the resulting picture looks like a Picasso ]
 
unfortunately the fiendish element of the BLM [ ALL LIVES MATTER ] HAS SET THE TREND …..
A friend of mine .. stated " how fortunate someone turned up with a 100ft of quality rope in their rucksack " and condemned the head of AVON & SOM police for supporting and condoning the attack on the statue … he should resign ….
 
There needs to be an emergency act brought in parliament tomorrow to make it law full stop that you must not gather in groups of 6 2m apart with a serious penalty if you do ...like a criminal record …. [ although it is likely most of the worst offenders have one already! ] How far away are we from civil war?... Priti Patel HAS SO CALLED slapped the wrist of andy marsh but then staunchly defended by Essex police chief Harrington ...we are heading for a situation where the .gov needs to act or else there will either be a real shortage of recruits to the police force or "masses who have the ilk of physical violence"
 
Oh well at least as we’re in lockdown gatherings of more than 6 people won’t be allowed ................. oh wait a minute .
 
That’s why mob rule from anyone isn’t acceptable no matter how good the cause , it was inevitable this would happen. Demonstrating is fine normally as long as its peaceful, but not now during this awful virus.

3. WHAT IS TO BE DONE?
(i) Rioting?
Understandable and socialists defend the right of people to fight back by any means necessary. Marin Luther King rightly described riots as “the voice of the unheard”.
But riots can’t solve the problem; at best they provide temporary liberation and exhilaration before the state regroups and usually takes revenge.

(ii) Reform?
We support the fight for reforms as they can and do make a difference to people’s lives but they are not enough and can be rolled back.
Consider the US itself where the CRM was a heroic struggle which led to civil rights and voting rights legislation. In its aftermath there was a great focus on electing BAME leaders; “getting “black faces in high places” The culmination of this was the election of Barack Obama in 2008.
What did Obama’s 8 years in office really achieve? In response to Floyd’s death, Obama has said that institutional racism should not be “normal” in 2020 and has called for Americans to “come together to heal the legacy of bigotry.”
Yet, BLM was established during Obama’s presidency precisely because he failed to deliver on the hopes invested in him.
The attached table showing killings year on year highlights this:

Police killings year on year. A quarter of those killed in 2019 were African-Americans. Black people make up 13% of the overall US population


(iii) Armed resistance?
Neither can we prioritise as an alternative fighting fire with fire in the way in which the Black Panthers tried, however courageously. Ultimately the state has access to more firepower. This was one of the main reasons why the Panthers were wiped out.

WHY WE NEED A REVOLUTION
Racism cannot simply be reformed away because its use as a means of divide and rule is an essential feature of capitalism.
BAME people are the victims of racism and suffer disproportionately but are not exclusively affected by police harassment oppression and exploitation.
Working class people from all backgrounds have a common interest in uniting to fight those that oppress and exploit us.
The current crisis has shown who the key workers really are. We can and must harness our collective power to overthrow this system and create a better world.
 
Just reading back through the past couple of pages having not replied for a while. Lots of good points, but there's too much to quote and I have to address a few things which I feel you guys have conjured up to some extent - or at least applied other opinions to mine.

1. The accusation that the movement is 'erasing history'. This is not true, to put the statue in a museum and keep it's story for generations is anything but erasing history. It's remembering everything, good and bad.
2. @Angelicnumber16 then bundles banning TV programmes in with this, which I never once supported or even mentioned. If this is in relation to Fawlty Towers 'don't mention the war' episode being taken down from streaming sites, I agree with the lot of you. It should be left online, though I think it'd be fair if they removed the scene where they literally say the word 'n***ers*. It's not something I've ever said I support.
3. @Red Alert then accused me of making up a story about people defending war memorials. Seeing as there was then a discussion about it being true, I'll accept an apology from you any time mate.
4. @Cliftonville then mentioned me making a comparison between slaves and the murder of Lee Rigby. I didn't make that comparison! Angelic did, I was simply replying to his point. @johngalleyfan2 then decided to insult me based on this, when it wasn't even me that brought it up!
5. @bcfcredandwhite then says he can't agree with the 'direct action' I support (in the context of mob rule). Again, made up. I don't support it. I quite clearly on here retracted my support for those who tore down the statue and I think they should be prosecuted. Peaceful protest yes, anything more than that, no. And desecrating a statue of Churchill or attacking police officers is absolutely ****ing disgusting.

That's 5 points right there, on just 3 pages, where I've either had something incorrectly attributed to me or in some cases completely bloody made up.

There's really no point posting if that's going to be done. There are some really good posters on here, and some really nice posters too. We disagree massively, and I might say stupid sh*t at times, but there's usually an element of respect with most. It's a massive pain in the arse being outnumbered all the time, but it's really interesting and even fun up to a point. That goes immediately when things are just completely bloody made up.

I'm sure this will be met by a usual sarcastic response from one or two of you but I just don't think it's very fair.

You don't know me. It's impossible to be perfect in some cases (how on earth do you buy a fair-trade phone for example), but I'm fair when it comes to buying clothes, giving to charity, helping others - I even stopped eating animals a year or 2 ago to just try and be a better person. So, with the greatest respect, please don't accuse me of hypocrisy. I go further than most people do when it comes to trying to better ones self.

Sorry to triple post but when sh*te comes out about banning TV programmes, and having to reconsider every single statue in the country as an urgent matter, I really do get why you lot are frustrated and feel a bit suppressed. And Police getting attacked is absolutely horrendous - they're the ones who are supposed to be protecting us and some d*ckheads are attacking them. I've clearly not made it clear enough that I distance myself from all of that crap. But I do.

In most cases, I find the overly-PC stories are actually just nonsense stories that don't really exist, but which have been blown up and printed everywhere to create fake outrage. But here it's really not the case.

the fact you feel the need to make a post to identify such a diverse amount of critism/ inaccurate or other statements from a number of posters must surely teach you something?? the above quote/concern for example …. there would be no need to put it in a museum had the vandal element not did as they did.
to look at a wider picture eliminate the slave trade and all that goes with it! and the likelihood COLSTON WOULD STILL HAVE HAD A STATUE....take 10 years [slave trade ] out of 50 generating wealth and he would still most likely had a statue the greater part of his wealth came from all his other enterprises check the history books!
We now have a situation where millions around the world who didn't know about the slave trade are fully aware, and as people around the world visit museums or the educational establishment teach history ...part of the curriculum will include the episode of 2020. "how people risked the lives of thousands by marching against the will of most governments, in close order during a pandemic" also a mob tore down the statue of " ??? how ever many ??? and these statues may be seen in museums all over …
like all negative / bad news it is what is most remembered, not what the actual BLM [ ALM ] aim was, a peaceful protest. Protest yes peaceful yes in right conditions yes... the organisers "wish to distance themselves from the bad bits" really, how can you even an amoeba would likely know there would be trouble makers .. and ignore the safety of the NHS ... EMERGENCY SERVICES … and the people of the UK.

I think a lot of people who supported GF and the protest against police brutality are now taking a back seat, wishing to distance themselves [ as do the BLM organisers ] from current events … future protests are likely to contain a lot of violence orientated people ….very sad... because the original cause to highlight inequality has been tainted …. by a few mindless people.
 
A guy called Mohamed is now to scared to leave his house. Its because folk on twitter are accusing him of being the person who tried to set fire to the Union Jack at the London Cenotaph. In fact it was a woman.
95% of protesters have been hoodwinked by the BLM organisation and are now finding out the great British Public won't put up with the desecration of memorials and attacking Police.

Mohamed is learning the hard way.
