Marcus Maddison has been released by Peterborough United.

They've also got rid of first team coach Aaron McLean.

If he's been released, that might affect our decision to sign him. Wasn't the problem that we didn't want to pay the £400,000 fee? Might be more tempted now that he's a free agent?

If he is a free agent now , what are the implications for his loan deal with us?

“I think we’re still working on the other two (Maddison and Wilks). I’ve left it to the football club really,” said McCann this week.

“The other two are fine. Marcus hasn’t played (this week) because he’s got a bit of a tight groin but he’s fine. He’s just overdone himself in one of the shooting drills. He’ll be okay in a couple days.

“We’re just taking it day by day. Things change. One day you think you’re fine and the next it changes. We’ll just have to see where we are with those two.”

Maddison hasn't got much incentive to turn out for City, his loan deal will end on 30th June. He wouldn't want to get injured and jeopardise a good contract move.

IF that’s the case with Maddison he’s of no use.

We need battlers to stay up...players who will play for the shirt and not for a move.

I don't agree, if he wants to play in the championship, he needs to show he can step up or he is off to either a league one side or a lower half championship side, with no big payday.

What happens if he has serious injury in the remaining games? Who pays for his rehab, recovery, insurance after his short term deal ends after the remaining 9 games?

Maddison seems to be the type of player that has got some ability but only shows it when he can be bothered. Not sure what sort of influence he has on the dressing room, seems to be a bit of an oddball.
