I think deep down we all know what would happen if it was us, let's just be thankful that we haven't been presented with the golden opportunity of demeaning ourselves the way the mags have over the last month.

It's sad but I reckon most fans of any team would excuse it in some way. The Mags is worse because they're fine without this, but we would say it was this or potential financial meltdown.

I just don't see the Mags takeover been stopped. If it was it would be hypocrisy of the highest order. They would have to cancel F1, Boxing, Golf in fact all sport that currently enjoys Saudi investment in sport worldwide. It just won't happen

Do these other sports also have a fit and proper owner test that would prevent the clubs/brands falling into the wrong hands? The FA set up their test, so the least they should do is adhere to it.
I think the EFL finalising the league will be all the further encouragement he needs. I am positive he wants out and I hope that it just relates to the price regarding which league we are in.
He will have to cut costs again and will definitely not get us promoted next season so he may as well get out now.
For part 1, I sincerely hope you're right mate. For part 2, I'm not totally convinced.

Oh aye it seems far fetrched for it to fall through. Like you say, I'm sure at some point they'll figure out how to reconcile the ethics with the sheer amount of money they can make.

There's an argument that the Mags, in this current situation, would be better off with Ashley.

or will the government be like all the media and only think that there is the premier league, and the rest of football doesn't count?

The real issue is the Premier League acting like that.

There's enough money in football that it shouldn't need bailing out, it just needs to be distributed better.

For part 2 I agree that he cannot be enjoying the current situation. He is also not stupid enough to think that he can maintain or improve the current squad with the finances that he has available. It will undoubtedly deteriorate.
