Something needs to happen otherwise we could lose a fair few clubs. The problem is that in the same week as Rolls Royce, etc. have announced big job cuts, the government will be wary of propping up football clubs.
or will the government be like all the media and only think that there is the premier league, and the rest of football doesn't count?
A saving grace could be that the authorities and the Premier League would look very bad if a load of clubs go bust. One or two, and they might not get too much flak.
Interesting in what I was saying on the clubs in the playoffs etc. Just watching Barton and Fleetwood will vote to play. I’ve misjudged that, of course the playoff sides will still fancy automatic. I make 11 that will play, means we need a swing of 1.
Going off this, 3-11, he mentioned Blackpool in 13th have suggested they want to play, and Tranmere. If Tranmere had better GD Wimbledon would be on the line with PPG We are relying on Bristol Rovers thinking they can get on a run it looks like, or an unexpected club having a sponsorship deal requiring them to play. It could be that a simple payment from TV broadcasters could get it done, but will they have the demand if every game in top 2 divisions is to be shown?
Your last sentence highlights the problem the government would have. It could easily be argued that football is awash with obscene amounts of money, Man Utd paying Sanchez over £400,000 every week, Newcastle paying £40,000,000 for Joelinton are just two simple examples of waste. Everyone with little interest in football would want to know why football can’t support itself rather than rely on the taxpayer to bail them out. Even before this virus took hold, lower league clubs were seriously struggling while the Premier clubs were throwing money around as though it was going out of fashion. Hopefully when this is all over, a serious rethink of the redistribution of TV money will take place, though I doubt it will.
It’s going to be a close call mate, everything crossed. Be nice to at least have the chance to **** it up again.
Bit of a question for everyone Do you think we’ll have new owners in the summer and If yes do you think that it will be FPP
Mad bob over the road is still running with them new guys’ angle. Mind you he’s drank so much h bleach I’ve no idea half the stuff he spouts. He’s a Donald & DJ cheerleader so mebbes there is something in it. As much as I hope it’s FPP I don’t think it will be
I think youre a bit off tbh...If (from what was said on talksport) that there was a 60% vote against playing...by my calculations thats 14 clubs against 9.....theres got to be a few back handers doled about to make this happen!
Still in league 1 tho mate, 3rd season in league 1....no matter which way I say it it doesnt sound any better!
Watching this all morning, Wycombe want to play, but are concerned about the financial side, so there’s a swing as without backing they are a ‘no’. There’ll be others in that boat.
Just watching a bit about the Championship becoming ‘Premier League 2‘. Can see that happening and the gap to League One then will become outrageous.
