I heard last night that fpp are finally taking over. SD is up **** creek without a paddle and is desperate to sell. He had been trying to hold out and hope we get promoted but with the season as good as over due to covid 19 and no promotion has put paid to that. The news about the black hole in the accounts was picked up back in the summer and obviously fpp although wealthy were not about to be ripped off and were not willing to pay the ridiculous amount SD wanted. SD at the time was saying he had not changed the price! Well he was (correct) this is what Nixon etc have been going on about when referring to the price putting buyers off. Not sure as to how the loan came about as was not informed but would imagine it was fpp realising SD was out his depth and were prepared to play the waiting game as they knew once any interested parties wanting to buy the club would find the black hole and then also have to pay nearly an extra £10 million. I really do hope the info is correct and have no reason to doubt the source. I just hope its finally the end of the chancers

Bloody hope so, but if they have waited this long, then surely with everything up in the air, they would just wait and wait, and turn the screw more and more on Donald. The only way i can see it is if Donald defaults on the loan payment on purpose, to lose us for the 10 million. I have no idea how it is structured, and i probably still wouldn't have a Scooby Doo even if the contracts were put in front of me.

We need some good news, i know that much

Virtually word for word what I was told.

In a nutshell FPP wanted a full takeover and there was no cosy agreement with Donald to 'invest in him' or take the club to the PL.

FPP took advice, from actual football people, who know a million times more than Donald will ever know.

They don't need Donald at all, there are much better people than him who'd have got the club back up in the first season.
I have been wondering why we had no interested buyers as we have been told we are debt free etc...own a tremendous training facility and premier league ground with massive support. Well I understand now....black hole!

He has done nothing.....what he did do, was gamble on the club gaining promotion, I didn't happen and he is up financial **** creek
He may have only paid £12m (or whatever) but that doesn't meant that was the value of the club. If this £25m was paid to Short then that would make the value nearer £40m.

What he paid doesn't diminish the value of the club, though whether it's worth anywhere near that now is another story.

So does that mean that some of this anger should be directed at Short for allowing this to happen and essentially not leaving us debt free?

But thats not why they bought it. They thought we can just have this as a profit, people have called them chancers. I would be sued if I typed what I think of these 2 gentlemen. I went to The Sunderland legends things, Charlie was speaking, our lass said he speaks very well, my response, posh double glazing salesman

With all this to'ing and fro'ing going on..is there a chance the club could go bust?

How much debt does the club have and to whom is it owing?

Have you heard anything similar to Whiteleas and Doon Toon, Smug? Both seemed to have heard more last night?

I have the SunDELLland t shirt in large, hoping it still fits.

Fair enough. With him being present at one or both of the finals last season and something that I vaguely remember being said on here once, I have often wondered if he retained some kind of financial control
I’ve heard from taxi drivers - I know I know - that shipped SD, CM and co between the Roker Hotel and the SOL that CMs lass would mention Short in conversations.

If there's one thing I would like it's certainty. Donald has basically dangled potential investors or future takeovers in front of us from literally his initial press conference. That means we're always hanging on for the big bucks and never able to relax and only think about the on pitch stuff.

If anyone gets the club for £10m it's a great deal for them and Donald is losing money, somewhere between £5m-10m. I don't think that's likely but we shall see. I'd also be shocked if he and FPP could get a deal done in a few days even at that price, so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. He clearly didn't appoint Jim Rodwell with this in mind, so to do this would have meant changing his mind as a result of these stories yesterday.
