I only rant when people hold Germany's electorate as being superior to the UK's, when you think what that country's electorate was responsible for historically

I regard the Scandinavian and Dutch electorate as much like the UK's, probably nearest Scotland's in the case of Scandanavia

It's fair because we're talking about the intelligence of the electorate. Watford says the UK's electorate is thick as mince. He says Germany's electorate are more sophisticated intellectually. But the intelligence of an electorate does not change in a generation or two. So how intelligent was it when Hitler was voted in? And then compare that with the UK that rejected fascism

Why can’t it? Vast swathes of the electorate are thick as **** but the point is about a bit more than just raw intelligence. Plenty of relatively intelligent people can’t follow the simplest guidelines for a few weeks to stop them killing themselves or others.

I take it you'd rather have Donald the climate change denier and disinfectant injector as PM than Boris.

I don’t think Boris is a stupid bloke. Lazy and utterly unfit for his role but I reckon you could stick a general knowledge or an IQ test in front of him and he’d do ok. I doubt Trump could name every state.

I'm thinking more in terms of ethos, he's a clever politician like Trump, both have a keen eye for the main chance but they're morally bankrupt...

Sure, moral outlook may change, and Germany is a good example, Bobby. But Watford is talking about the intellectual level of an entire electorate. If anything, it should improve withe the rigours of modern education. But Watford says the British electorate, or at least those that voted Tory, are thick as mince.

Not all of them by any means. Lots of people are better off under the Tories and it’s perfectly understandable to have an “anyone but Corbyn” stance especially after the mauling he got off the press. ****hole ex-mining towns voting for them for Brexit/immigration reasons after a decade of being ****ed in the arse by austerity is, simplifying it, thick as mince.

I'm not taking it personally. But I don't think you appreciate that loyalties are changing for good reasons and not because Northern voters are thick. How long that change lasts depends on how the Tories perform for their new voters. Boris was high in the polls when I last looked
