Please refer to him by his main nickname of Hat Mancock.

They seem really confident of getting to these 100k tests. I wonder what Dom’s plan is.

I hope they do get to the 100k, I really do. Could get to 10 million but if you dont use the capacity then it doesn't really ****in matter.

They seemed very confident today... perhaps they know something we don't? The good news is that all indicators are showing a decline so we shouldn't knock that.

Yes it’s truly been a Herculean achievement to keep the death toll this low.

There’s no optimistic spin on our numbers, unfortunately.

All comment is speculation or anecdote.

The NHS is not ‘open for business’. All ‘non urgent’ surgery has been cancelled for a minimum of three months. These include things which have a massive impact on people’s quality of life - cataract operations, hip and knee replacements. The amount of surgery happening must be massively reduced, because a lot of operating theatres have been converted to critical care space. The waiting lists will be even longer when surgery starts again.

Yorkie’s first person experience of having routine monitoring postponed must have happened thousands of times. Not ‘business as usual’. If the government really wants those people, including the worried well, to access services as usual they better make sure services can deliver. At the moment it’s fortunate, in a perverse way, that some people are too scared to go to hospital and others are putting off getting checked out - 75 out of every 100 who would get tested urgently for cancer - presumably either out of fear or a wish not to be a ‘burden’.

Surely Sweden is more seriously affected because it’s strategy is to have a higher rate of infection? It might not end up with more deaths per million when this is over, but would have seen them in a shorter period and with less economic disruption.

But we can’t do it because the National COVID19 Service would collapse. Apparently.

    What?

I can observe how different approaches have led to different results. Our approach of doing **** all for a while then saying testing isn’t important then saying testing is incredibly important surprisingly hasn’t led to optimal results thus far.

Like me, like others, the scientists, you don't actually know how this thing will pan out? We might end up long term not being as bad as you make out. This disease is only 4 months old Watford and things change daily... Maybe we got some things wrong? When it's all over I am sure there will be an inquiry of some sort.
    However
Today was the lowest death toll in 3 weeks and that's more positive than it was yesterday. Today we have started trials on 500 people for a vaccine. Funnily one of the World scientists said the UK was tops at this stuff.
it's not a doom and gloom as you seem to think.

There’s no maybe about it. We pissed away a load of time and innocent people are now paying for that. Apologists will try and kick the can down the road for as long as possible but there’s blood on their hands and for once this can’t be allowed to be swept under the carpet. Inevitably those most at fault won’t get what they deserve.

Once again you don't know that. It's what you have read in the media. Scientists aren't commenting yet because they don't know. Every country is different and has made mistakes... even the Germans!
I will let you be the voice of doom but today (other than the loss of life) was more promising.
