I'd support bringing all care and care homes into public ownership.

'Diversity Managers' are so 2010s, in the 2020s it has to be 'LGBTQ Outreach Workers', obviously supporting someone having their giblets removed is far more important than life or death...

It's not just one person doing that mate.

Just find it all depressingly childish.

I'm probably suffering a bit from all this **** like everyone else.

Agreed the financial package is helpful to many, although is no use to many also or is taking way too long. If the advice (scientific) is wrong or at least wrong at times then it only highlights the necessity for reasonable questioning of decisions. All must come together in my opinion to get this right. It's too important not to.

There are others who constantly make childish, sarcastic comments, either about the **** situation we're in or other posters.

Ellers can be his own worst enemy and can stick up for himself, but I find the constant picking on him a little wearing.

As I say, I'm probably suffering a bit from all this ****.

    Time for a walk!!

Yes I'm as guilty as anyone but I'm big enough to try argue/debate my point rather than ignoring views of others. His stance actually typifies my point about the government and cross party work. We seem to only be listening to whom we choose to.

Oh come on Col, I’m not having that. Don’t make him out to be some bullied misunderstood soul. He is the one who puts people down, and then when they bite back he plays the ‘I’m being bullied’ card.....it’s pathetic.

Totally agree. I made a valid point about the number of deaths not being recorded correctly. The cheeky twat tells me 'you should really think before you post'. I come back at him cos that's the way I am. He hides behind an ignore button cos he cant debate with people who disagree with his view. Reminds me of when Boris wouldnt do the Andrew Neil show.

Another needed covid-19 light hearted view on things and so very Trump.
    ———————————————————

    Joke of the Week
If Trump were captain of Titanic – There isn’t any iceberg . . . There is an iceberg but it’s a small iceberg in another ocean . . . The iceberg is in this ocean but it’s a small iceberg and will melt in about three days . . . There is an iceberg but we didn’t hit the iceberg . . . We hit the iceberg but the damage will be repaired very shortly . . . I didn’t know how big the iceberg was until two weeks ago . . . The iceberg is a Chinese iceberg . . . We aren’t taking on water but every passenger who wants a lifeboat can get a lifeboat and they are beautiful lifeboats because we make the best lifeboats in the world . . . Look, passengers need to ask nicely for lifeboats if they want them . . . We don’t have any lifeboats, we’re not lifeboat distributors . . . I really don’t think we need that many lifeboats . . . The people drowning should have planned for icebergs and brought their own lifeboats . . . We have lifeboats and they’re supposed to be everyone’s lifeboats, but they’re only for people who kiss my a** . . . They are not the passengers’ lifeboats . . . The last captain of this ship didn’t leave enough lifeboats and, besides, nobody could have foreseen the iceberg.”

From day one a very prominent person said: "MPs are not experts in this area and need to be advised". I stick by his remarks because it is true. If they have made rediculous mistakes, that will come out at a later date and they will need to answer.

This is true. But these experts still have to be led. Leadership is key. If experts are at odds then a leader has to find a way through this to minimise the deaths.
Look at the way the Nightingale hospital was led by the army. Little or no controversy - just clear planning and direction by experts, action and results.

The way I see it is as follows, might well be wrong but it's just from what think i know.

Our original plan to deal with Covid19 was 'herd immunity'. I presume our experts advised the government on this or the government decided this. Everything that has since happened or not happened as the case may be, leads me to believe that this is still the strategy albeit slightly camouflaged. Half hearted lockdown, construction sites still open, lack of testing. Ppe has it's own story. I firmly believe that the government want as many people to get this disease as necessary to attempt to form some sort of immunity. Now, I'm not saying I disagree or agree with this (if true) but a bit of transparancy wouldnt go a miss. Then I see Gove on tv talking about reopening schools, maybe in May. Another helpful way to spread the disease. Hairdresser opening etc. I've never seen someone cut hair from 2 meters away but it should be amusing to see.

Right I have not yet got near the Sunday Times...Hubby is reading it first, because I make a mess with it!!!

But I read the Saturday colour supplement, the one with the restaurant reviews.
There was a diary of a London Restaurant owner, it accounted the slowing down in trade, and then closure and what it would mean to him.

You read how he is hoping that the Government will make Covid a notifiable disease and then tell restauarants to close, because then he can claim on his insurance (into which he has been paying for years). The Government are a bit slow but eventually do that at the end of March.
In the postscript he writes that even though...the owner and the Government have done the correct proceedure in fact the insurance company will not be paying out as his restaurant premises have not been harmed or affected and so he is therefore ready to start up again at a moments notice. So they will not be contributing in any way to his loss of earnings during lockdown. They say it is in the small print of his policy.

I am assuming this is correct (I have not obviously read the restauarants owners policy myself).

I fear we are reopening because other countries are...and our leaders do not want to be left behind.
Our numbers in high dependancy hospital beds is decreasing, but not our death rate yet.
I do hope we use some restraint, and use some caution even if we are a little behind other countries.

We will not be so well behaved if we all have to go into lockdown for a second wave.

Off to see if I can wrestle the paper of the hubbie now
