I'm seriously beginning to wonder, there's just an air of incompetence particularly in the supply chain...
What the ****? I must have written that seriously badly. She’s in good nick, see my response to Ninesy. I am going to reword that post to prevent further confusion. Done - have another look and see if it’s less doomy now.
Off a lorry round the back of Shepherds Bush market innit. I’ve been trying really hard to take a balanced perspective on this and not automatically bash the government on ideological grounds (as you know I would have a similar challenge with any government, whoever the leader is). It’s a hard ask but they are cocking it up.
What SB is saying is that the Spanish are already testing for immunity. She )(Stan neice) had the virus, gone back to work....and has now been tested for antibodies and she is immune. That is good news for her.....but wtf for us in UK Why have the Spanish got an antibody test and we haven't. The UK government have not been in on the EU planning for this, and now seems we have missed out on the rolling out of the antibody test. What the +++ ....is going on Germany have contact testing in place, as well as a huge number of antigen testing per day, and are now saying their pandemic is undercontrol Spain are Antigen and Antibody testing We are nowhere near 100,000 tests per day We are missing our deadlines on PPE We have no antibody test And we are claiming to set up a new institute that already exists
Silly question possibly. Can we ever know we are indefinitely immune or does the antibody test just prove we have had immunity to this point?
I would think those that have been seriously ill yet survived may have suffered damage to their lungs that would leave them vulnerable if a variant of the virus appeared. The recuperation period for many is months and in South Korea there have been over 150 cases of re-infection, whether that is a result of faulty testing the first time is open to conjecture but this is a new disease we don't know enough about to be sure. China has much to answer for...
A few years back my cousin went into hospital and caught pneumonia. It left him with scarring on his lungs. later he succumbed to a lung illness which finally got the better of him.
84% of Care Homes in the U.K. are privately owned, charging anywhere from £700 - £2000 per week. Yet the media would have you believe that it is the government's fault that they do not have adequate PPE.
Do they have the chops to deliver in the timescales they have been talking about Beth? I have to confess that the level of testing and trialling in a vaccine that could be offered outside a trial setting by September leaves me a little nervous, but if you rate this team I will. I am hoping that GSK, AZ and any other manufacturing sites will be offering to scale up immediately. Ireland should be laughing on this given the huge number of Pharma manufacturing sites around Cork.
It's not like the government to bullshit us! Let's be honest they have been doing it on a daily basis. Some can see it, some refuse to see through it.
I'm sorry, I must've misread it. I was just about to go and sit down to eat and got the wrong gist of it.
Well I’ve just read the the WHO are saying that having antibodies doesn’t equate to having immunity. Which is a bit of a blow to my understanding of what an antibody is. Advice please Beth! Anyway, since when did Pete Townsend know anything about the transmission of viruses? Magic bus my arse.
Further to earlier post about fruit pickers being flown it.......it turns out that the company chartered a Ryan air flight and flew 189 Bulgarian nationals in.....they were tested prior to leaving and will be subject to 14 days lockdown before starting work......company has defended move saying that they need around 200 seasonal staff and only 40 locals applied for the jobs despite record unemployment.....also these folk have been coming here for years and are highly trained to do job at the required speed whereas it could take up to 6 months to train the locals to work to the same speed.... Make of that what you will......
Sorry, I missed this earlier. He was an Islamic extremist and imprisoned in Egypt for belonging to a banned terror organisation just after 9/11. He was represented by ... Yes, you guessed it ... Sadiq Khan. My apologies to all, I do realise that this stuff is unrelated to the thread title and will cease to post anything unrelated.
