In the beginning, people were bitching about the government saying people would die because we don't have enough ventilators and it was all the tories fault underfunded NHS, blah blah blah. Well, people are dying and it has nothing to do with the number of ventilators it has something to do with a nasty disease. That is not the fault of a Government. People forget Italy like France has a good health system and look at whats happened there? Some people are just looking for an excuse to bash them... I understand why but now is not the time to seek a pound of flesh.
Even the most ardent Tory supporter surely can question the governments slow response in certain areas.
There’ll be far more fatties at the end of this thing than the beginning too. I’m trying to use the time especially with the gym closed to go the other way. Fewer calories and more cardio.
Hopefully people will read this and understand why we have a shortage of masks. It's from the WHO. https://www.who.int/news-room/detai...quipment-endangering-health-workers-worldwide
I’m seeing people out walking who have clearly never strolled anywhere, even to the chippie because they drive, for decades, and there are other ancient wrecks like myself who are out reluctantly jogging as well. But judging by the bottles of wine, beers and tankers of fizzy drinks left out in recycling bags I reckon you are right, we will be a nation of alcoholic diabetics. Swedish PM now saying that they weren’t prepared properly and they need more restrictions. Shame.
Although saying that I am doing a 10,000 step walk each day with the dog now which I wasn't doing before. Mrs Ellers is working from home and making healthier meals for me. No evidence yet that we will all be fat. Most people down the Gym I walk past do weights and steroids so that won't help their aerobic fitness.
That's a different argument but yes I agree we got rid of our manufacturing. We don't make enough stuff anymore. Sad how Germany has 100 Bio labs and we have 4 (when they discussed examining the disease). Shocking really.
Yeah some people are definitely making a point of using their government-mandated exercise allowance and there will be some benefits for some people in not having to commute, more sleep, less stress etc. but I’d have thought far more people are going through more stress, losing sleep over it and drinking more. Healthy eating on average goes out the window at times like this too but I think it’s the best chance any of us will ever have to get into some positive habits.
Ah, I get it. I wasn't aware of those stats. I did think it was odd, though, when Raab and others kept telling us that Johnson would pull through because he's so fit. 'He runs, he cycles, he plays tennis'. He plainly isn't fit, he's a fat **** who should lay off the booze and burgers.
Agree 100%. While in general, I accept what has been ordered or, more often than not, advised, I do draw the line at a government minister trying to deflect criticism away by blaming the front line. That is totally disgraceful. His life is not in danger every time he goes to work and he clearly does not appear to understand the concept of cross-infection.
I see the old soak got rid of the best thread on the board......now I’ve gotta read all this opinionated old bollox from the usual suspects....typical
I read about his actual fitness habits and they weren’t quite as impressive as Raab thinks. Round the block is not a real run. But to be (reluctantly) fair to Johnson he was very upfront and slightly ashamed for being so fat a couple of years ago, said he was going to give up cheese. Then this year he said he couldn’t be a vegan because he’d have to give up cheese. I don’t think self restraint is one of his strong points, but he should shed a few pounds in hospital. Full marks for your persistence on the booze issue.
What investigation?. His remarks have been published and played in the media. Probably not in full I accept but short of getting the full transcript of what he said what more will the investigation reveal. It is a matter for the person who takes the risk to decide hat is safest for him/her not for a politician trying to evade responsibility for a shortage of vital ppe. After all its not as though they are hoarding it and making a killing by selling it to the public as a nice little earner on the side..
