Permission for a quick rant??? (I don't think it directly affects anyone on here :emoticon-0105-wink: )

I use LinkedIn a lot - largely to generate new assignments

However, there have been so many "aren't I brilliant " posts from people (mainly recruiters who have been made redundant) who now have temporary jobs in Tesco / Sainsbury's etc. Essentially what a sacrifice they are making and how they are doing their bit to help the community...
F*ck right off - you are only doing it because you need a job and that is all you can get. As soon as you can get back into your old career you will chuck your new uniform in the bin! You aren't special or saving the world. And you will return to f*cking anyone over for a commission when you get back into recruitment
I have a vested interest - my son works in a store and the very same people would've treated him as invisible before COVID19
He is working lots of hours and doing what he's always done. He isn't a "hero" (massively overused phrase) - he is doing a not very well paid job and it isn't a community service...it is a commercial organisation
Maybe a menial rant but it gets me angry whenever I see these posts on LI
Better I feel better for the rant :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm
You go for it. A rant a day keeps the doctor away.

A close call for me and the wife, 2 / 3 weeks ago we had a hotel booked near Bedford for a family wedding, wife’s cousins eldest, anyway we decided not to go because of her accumulated high risk factors and the fact Boris had just announced the closing of all pubs etc, anyhow the father in law went (81) poor health, we have since found out the wife’s cousin ( brother of grooms mother ) has just spent 10 days in ICU in Brighton with The Myley Cyrus had it bad and was touch and go, he believes he caught it in London 4-5 weeks ago.
A narrow escape for us but now Father in law is very poorly, not in hospital as yet but looking like it, but my point is even though that side of the family all knew he’d Been in hospital and definitely had it, we found out yesterday via Facebook of the event, no phone calls to warn anybody, no phone calls to check , nothing, needless to say some on this side are actually f*cking fuming, and I fear that a very large rift has opened and if the father in law does have it and it ends badly it could end in serious repercussions as my Brother in laws are the punch first ask questions afterwards type of fellows.
Which brings me too my point, when you can’t trust family, who can you trust in these sad and dangerous times !!!

Sorry to hear this Turkish - I know that you're worried about this for your families sake

Business Watch!

Smith Group, precision engineering, has been trying to sell its Smith Medical (drips, airways stuff and a low volume sales ventilator mainly used in ambulances) for two years. Now the ventilator design has been adopted by one of the groups trying to churn them out for the NHS. Boom times! Also it’s anti terrorist scanners, via Smith Detection, are flying off the shelves as airports, unexpectedly quiet, bring forward installation of new kit.

Always a silver lining for someone!

You're gonna miss the 'Pink Supermoon', already rising in the east, I've had a good look through my binoculars, seems a good place for social distancing...

Sorry to read this. Totally irresponsible and selfish. We've already been told to hold on booking Eurostar tickets to London in July for a wedding. The bride called us and told us she isn't sure what will happen but hasn't ruled out cancelling.

I should've added that those people who always have my respect are those like our very own Staines who do essential jobs that are very often under appreciated, and certainly not over paid
Frequently also emotionally and physically tough jobs that many would never want to do themselves

Big manly hug (from 2 metres) for Staines and fellow key workers

But on your point mate, which is totally and utterly correct this ‘hero’ thing is getting a bit tedious to be honest. No one forced me into the job, it’s I wanted to do and I do mostly enjoy it.
It’s fun......most of the time ;)

Was gonna write a long post but gotta go x

A family friend who was admitted to St Thomas's Hospital about 10 days ago following a heart attack passed away this evening. Told he contracted the virus whilst in the ICU which was separate from the Covid ICU. Seems there is no hiding place in hospitals now, his wife was not allowed access at any time after he was admitted, it's bloody heartbreaking for any close relative...
